The remote control for the crime computer is actually an off the shelf Mego Star Trek communicator working walkie talkie toy. The Star Trek name was, of course, covered over and the it was all painted a light color. The alert sound from the communicator was even used for the sound effect for the unit in the show, sped up a bit. See more »
I remember this show when I was a kid! Its combination of movie monsters as superheroes kept kids interested. It's tongue in cheek humor had adults laughing. It was both a kid's show and a satire. It reminded me a lot of the old "Batman" tv series, and for good reason: many of those who worked on the '60s tv classic also had a hand in creating "The Monster Squad". This show starred a pre-"Love Boat" Fred(Gopher)Grandy as a night watchman of a horror movie wax museum who brought to life the statues of Frankinstein, Dracula, and the Wolf Man to fight crime. I've looked into finding the episodes, but it seems that NBC has them locked away and won't release them to video. If anyone knows of anybody who worked on the show or any of the higherups at NBC, please let me know how to contact them. It would be great to see these episodes again...and I'm not the only one who feels this way!
