Quality period porn, companion movie to FLOSSIE
Apparently made as a followup to the classic "Flossie: A Venus of Fifteen", OH FANNY! is an all-sex adaptation of "Fanny Hill" that is not as good a movie but nonetheless arousing period porn.
Star Mindy Wilson of FLOSSIE is back as Fanny, the so often filmed young lady who falls into bad company and becomes a prostitute in London with various romantic ups and downs in her career. Here we see little of the intrigue, as the filmmakers have jettisoned the key subplots involving her true love sent away by daddy, and the evil exploitation of Fanny by divers hands.
Instead, it's one bodice unbuttoning XXX scene after another, done with style but zero narrative skill. Perhaps the florid, almost highbrow approach of FLOSSIE was considered too much for an Adult Cinema audience, who understandably want to cut to the chase.
Actors' names are comically chosen here, with Mindy getting an "introducing" credit as "Carmel Monterey", clearly tagged squarely in the Clint Eastwood stomping grounds. Her evil brothel madam who exploits her is an unattractive but buxom actress named "Charlotte Holstein" -not very funny in-joke either.
Some star power is interjected in the form of the delightful Sandy Carey, but although she humps well Sandy is not given any dialog, in a nothing role.
Well-photographed, film's oddest touch is wholesale pirating of John Addison's musical score from the classic film TOM JONES, obviously fitting the period action, but so familiar as to be a ludicrously brazen steal.
One last quibble, the freshness and starry-eyed quality (plus fabulous smile) exhibited by Mindy as FLOSSIE already seems gone by FANNY, where she wears a lousy wig and never seems to flash those glorious pearly whites for the camera. Porno burnout for actresses is part & parcel of the profession, but this talented performer seems to have used up her virginal appeal in record time.
