Bravo to filmmakers Rosenbaum and Feig! "Bye-Bye Babushka" is a gem, a work of heartbreaking, awe-inspiring realism. A life spent toiling under Soviet rule, the film says, is surely worth lamenting. But to count such a life as pitiable is to overlook the courage, perseverance, and quiet dignity that more properly define it. More than any traditional mark of greatness, sometimes survival, itself, deserves our utmost admiration.
