Søren Kragh-Jacobsen had a fine touch from his debut, presenting teenagers in 'Vil du se min smukke navle'. In this movie, he depicts the uneven but working friendship between the quiet John and the cool like city youngster René. The collective dreams of freedom from the seventies has changed into the hard reality of making ends meet, and the duo work hard bringing kerosene to the heating of lower class city apartments. The presentation uses a number of total shots establishing the worn down hoods, and the title may refer to ruffled birds having difficulty in keeping warm in the emotional sense of the word in cold city surroundings. 'Skyggen af Emma', 'Drengene fra Sankt Petri' and 'Øen i Fuglegaden' are other well made films, where the director show the world seen through the eyes of young people with depth and dedication. These films represent his best work.
