Kevin Smith’s 13 Best Jokes From His Graphic Comic-Con Recap of His Near-Fatal Heart Attack

Kevin Smith’s 13 Best Jokes From His Graphic Comic-Con Recap of His Near-Fatal Heart Attack
San Diego Comic-Con fixture Kevin Smith spent the first half of his improvised, 90-minute Hall H talk giving a beat-by-beat account of the heart attack he suffered in February. “I didn’t die, but I was real fucking close,” said the 47-year-old filmmaker, who also used his stage time to promote fundraising for his Rivit TV series, “Hollyweed,” and to energize fans about “Jay & Silent Bob Reboot” (shooting this November).

Smith’s family has a history of cardiac problems: His father “died screaming” during his own heart attack at age 67, while his mother has a stent in one of her arteries. During his personal ordeal, Smith learned that his Lad artery was 100 percent blocked. The heart attack happened while Smith was filming Showtime comedy specials at the Alex Theatre in Glendale, California. Instead of escorting him to the closest emergency room, knowledgable first responders took him to Adventist Health Glendale,

Kevin Smith In Talks With Disney To Direct A New Film, But Is It Marvel Or Star Wars?

Kevin Smith knows a thing or two about movies.

Throughout his long and celebrated career, he’s been involved in practically every part of the filmmaking process, writing and producing projects like Clerks and Dogma, all the while directing episodes of The Flash over on The CW.

More recently, though, Smith has doubled down on movie commentary, what with the likes of Hollywood Babble-On, Spoilers and his long-running Fat Man on Batman podcast. But it seems he’s got his eye on bigger fish now, as Fandom Wire has learned that the beloved director’s in talks with Disney to helm a new film for them. The only question, is, will it be something in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, or a project set in that galaxy far, far away? Unfortunately, no further information was revealed, but it’s not hard to put the pieces together.

Kevin Smith Leaps To The Defence Of Solo: A Star Wars Story

Kevin Smith knows a thing or two about movies.

Throughout his long and decorated career, he’s been involved in practically every part of the filmmaking process, writing and producing projects like Clerks and Dogma, all the while directing episodes of The Flash over on The CW.

More recently, though, Smith has doubled down on movie commentary, what with the likes of Hollywood Babble-On, Spoilers and his long-running Fat Man on Batman podcast. The latest episode (h/t ComicBook.com) just so happens to contain his thoughts on two of the biggest films of the moment: Deadpool 2 and Solo: A Star Wars Story.

The latter hasn’t exactly set the world on fire, leading many to write off Ron Howard’s Star Wars spinoff as a box office flop. Nevertheless, Kevin Smith has now defended the Lucasfilm Anthology pic as “fun fan service.”

I saw it, and I enjoyed it.

My Friend Dahmer Review

“All I know is that I wanted to see what the insides of these animals looked like,” says serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer, recalling his teenage pastime of finding animals and cutting them up. The opening scene of My Friend Dahmer – the new film about his school years – has Jeffrey (Ross Lynch) stare out of a schoolbus window at a dead carcass lying mangled in the road. Later, Dahmer shows two teenagers his collection of dead animals kept in jars of acid.

These gruesome early experiences could be seen as tame compared to the 17 murders he committed between ’78 and ’91, many of which involved rape and dismemberment, but the film’s foreshadowing is frightening enough, as writer-director Marc Meyers slowly reveals certain snapshots of Dahmer’s adolescence – developing like polaroid pictures. He goes to school like everyone else, feels awkward like everyone else, tells jokes like everyone else – and we know what

Kevin Smith Says His Driver License Causes Sarcasm With Tsa Agents
Filmmaker Kevin Smith on Wednesday shared a funny story on Twitter about what happens to him sometimes at the airport when going through security.

The Dogma helmer posted the photo portion of his driver's license and explained that more than once it has gotten a sarcastic comment thrown his way from a Tsa agent.

"Naturally, I’m wearing one of my jerseys in my driver’s license photo," Smith began. "So whenever I have to produce identification at the airport, 4 times out of 10, the @Tsa agent will look at my license, then stare at me for a second or two...

Jay & Silent Bob Returning in New Vr Series From Kevin Smith

Kevin Smith’s Jay and Silent Bob will strike back with a new Vr series from Stx Entertainment. The stoner pals Jay (Jason Mewes) and Silent Bob (Kevin Smith) first appeared in Smith’s debut feature Clerks. The characters would recur throughout Smith’s filmography, making especially memorable appearances in Chasing Amy (where Bob broke character and spoke) and Dogma.

Smith later made his ever-stoned comedic duo the center of their own film with Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, in which the two friends took their comic book Bluntman and Chronic to Hollywood.

Kevin Smith Refuses To Die Until He’s Seen Avengers: Infinity War

In a dramatic development far more compelling than any in his recent movies, Kevin Smith recently suffered a massive heart attack and nearly died. It turns out he was suffering from a 100% blockage of his Lad artery – known as ‘the Widowmaker’ – and if he had gone through with the show he was planning to do that evening he probably wouldn’t have made it.

After being pumped full of morphine and stabilized in a hospital, he’s currently in recovery, and took some time to post a video to his fans reflecting on his family, his personal life and his career, noting that after Dogma, God probably wasn’t going to step in and save him.

However, it turns out that there was one important factor that caused Smith to cling to life so fiercely: Avengers: Infinity War.

“This film is why I survived my heart attack,” he wrote. “I

10 Things You Didn’t Know about The Movie “Dogma”

Dogma is the kind of movie you might watch if you’re feeling like getting a dose of religion along with a big, healthy dose of sacrilege in the eyes of some people. Kevin Smith doesn’t pull a lot of punches in his movies on a regular basis but he went for the gold in this one when he came up with the idea of two exiled angels attempting to get back into heaven thanks to a loophole in church doctrine that would allow them to finally re-enter heaven. Of course as that would prove that God is fallible it would

Greta Gerwig Fangirls Over Justin Timberlake in Letter Asking to Use His Music in 'Lady Bird'

Greta Gerwig Fangirls Over Justin Timberlake in Letter Asking to Use His Music in 'Lady Bird'
For Greta Gerwig, flattery got her everywhere.

While on Late Night With Seth Meyers, the Lady Bird director presented the personal letters she wrote to Justin Timberlake, Alanis Morissette and Dave Matthews, asking permission to procure the rights to their hit songs.

The letters worked and Gerwig was able to have Timberlake's "Cry Me a River," Morissette's “Hand in My Pocket" and Dave Matthew Band's "Crash" play in her movie. Upon reading these notes to the musicians, it's clear why they agreed to let her use the tunes.

In her letter to Timberlake, the 34-year-old star begins, "I mean, what can I say? You’re Justin Timberlake.”

Gerwig goes on to note that she bought “both the CD and cassette” of the Justified album in 2003 because her "car didn’t have a CD player."

"You were the soundtrack to my adolescence," she gushes in her note to the 36-year-old pop star. "Between *Nsync and your
