Trivia

During filming of the scene where Will is leaving Davinci's to deliver a pizza and Reed is preparing to follow him, there was a house adjacent to the parking lot where a woman was watching the filming with her head out the window. The crew asked if she could be duck her head back in during filming. The woman demanded compensation for doing so, as it was a hot day and she did not have air conditioning. She was not compensated. Quotes

Professor Freidman: What you have before you is a cautionary tale. I was the chairman on Mr. Sherman's honour thesis committee. His paper was a wanton assault on every principle this institution holds dear. Now, you should all be open to original thinkers, but his thesis wasn't original. It was an 80 page temper-tantrum. So, instead of re-writing it, he drops out of school. You can see that decision has gotten him far. Behold, ladies and gentlemen, this is what happens when you stray from my syllabus.

An unoriginal movie about "original thought". Ironic? Does it matter?
14 September 2000 | by xorysSee all my reviews

This movie has a problem. Well... actually it has several problems. But the most pressing one is that the characters in it keep going on about "creativity" and "original thought"... and the main effect of this is to persistently draw attention to the fact that there's precious little in the way of original thought or real creativity in this film. An interesting question... is the writer being ironic? No, perhaps it isn't really an interesting question after all, since it doesn't really matter... the movie is basically going over ground already so well trodden it's threadbare, and it would take someone extremely naive to think this is "original"... and irony doesn't really alter anything. The movie also tries to cover its bets by including a "life affirming message". Recommended only to young folks with intellectual inclinations and not much of a clue.
