Timon: Pumbaa, let me define BABY-SITTING!
[Kiara and Kovu are stargazing]
Kovu: I've never done this before.
Kiara: Really? My father and I used to do this all the time. He says all the great kings of the past are up there.
Kovu: You think Scar's up there?
[Shocked, Kiara doesn't answer]
Kovu: He wasn't my father, but he was still part of me.
Kiara: My father said there was a darkness in Scar that he couldn't escape.
Kovu: Maybe there's a darkness in me too.
[Rehearsing speaking to Simba]
Timon: The good news is, we found your daughter. The bad news is, we dropped a warthog on her.
Kiara: [about letting Kovu return to the Pridelands] Father, please! Reconsider!
Simba: You will not go anywhere without an escort from now on.
Kiara: No! That's not...
Simba: He used you to get to me!
Kiara: No! He loves me, for *me*!
Simba: Because you are *my* daughter! You will not leave Pride Rock. You will stay where I can keep an eye on you - away from him!
Kiara: You don't know him!
Simba: I know he's following in Scar's pawprints, and I must follow in my father's.
Kiara: You will *never* be Mufassa!
[Simba is horrified; Kiara runs off, crying]
Young Kovu: [though she and Kovu fight and he prepares to leave, Kiara continually faces him] What are you *doing*?
Young Kiara: My father says never to turn your back on an Outsider!
Young Kovu: And do you always do what your father says?
Young Kiara: NO!
Young Kovu: Bet ya do! Bet your Daddy's little girl!
[Kovu pounces, only to realize Timon is there]
Timon: AHHH! Don't eat me, please! I... I never really met your tyrant, I mean, uh, Scar! Scar, oh heck of a guy. A little moody, but...
Kiara: Timon, what are you doing here?
Timon: Kiara! Thank goodness! Oh. Hey, for once, we're not following you. This just happens to be the best smorgasbord in the Pride Lands! Bugs everywhere! But, you don't call for a reservation and... yeesh!
[Timon and Pumbaa are surrounded by Lions]
Timon: [holding Pumbaa's tail] Don't anybody move! This things loaded... I'll let you have it!
[Timon and Pumbaa are fighting]
Simba: What are you doing?
Pumbaa: Ahh!
Timon: Good question. Uh, let me ask you one.
Pumbaa: Hippothetically.
Timon: Very hypothetically. There's this guy...
Pumbaa: But he's not a lion...
Timon: No. No, he's not a lion. Yeesh, definitely not a lion... and uh... uh, his daughter, um, say... vanished?
[Kovu just rescued Kiara from the wildfire]
Kiara: Where am I?
Kovu: You're safe - in the Pride Lands.
Kiara: The Pride Lands? No! Why'd you bring me here? Who do you think you are?
Kovu: [shocked] I think I'm the one that just saved your life!
Kiara: Look, I had everything under control.
Kovu: Not from where I'm standing.
Kiara: Then move downwind.
Timon: That's not a king. That's a fuzzy maraca!
Young Kiara: Will somebody please just listen to me?
Timon: I'm sorry, I wasn't listening. Did you say something, Princess?
Kovu: [points out where the grass has grown back from the fire, between them] Hey, look... we are one.
Kiara: What?
Kovu: Let's get outta here. We'll run away together! And start a pride... all our own.
Kiara: Kovu... we have to go back.
Kovu: You're kidding. But we're finally together!
Kiara: Our place is with our pride. If we run away, they'll be divided forever.
Timon: [he and Pumbaa narrowly escape being trampled by a herd of antelope] This must be where the deer and the antelope play!
Simba: As long as you live here, it's who you are,. You'll understand someday.
Kovu: [talking to himself] Okay, I have to tell her today. Oh, where do I start? "Kiara, Zira had a plot, and I was part of it, but I don't want to be... because... it's because I love you."
Young Kiara: I'm not *just* a princess, you know. That's only *half* of who I am!
Pumbaa: Oh, who's the other half?
Young Kiara: Umm... uhh...
Rafiki: Oh Mufasa, you've been up there too long! Your head is in the clouds!
[last lines]
Mufasa: Well done, my son. We are one.
Vitani: Where's your pretty daughter, Nala?
Zira: Well done, Kovu. Just like we've always planned.
Simba: You!
Adult Kovu: No! I didn't have anything to do with this!
Zira: Attack!
Kiara: Them? Us? Look at them... they *are* us! What differences do you see?
Zira: Vitani, now!
Adult Vitani: No, mother. Kiara's right.
[walks over to Kiara's side]
Adult Vitani: Enough.
Zira: If you will not fight, then you will die as well.
[all of the other lioness head towards Simba and his pride]
Zira: Where are you going? Get back here.
Simba: Let it go, Zira. It's time to put the past behind us.
Zira: [now alone] I'll never let it go!
[camera points to more logs blocking th river and back to Zira showing her eyes]
Zira: This is for you, Scar.
Young Kiara: [singing] If there's so much I must be, can't I still just be me, the way I am?
Simba: Kiara.
Zira: Kovu. Move.
Simba: Stand aside.
Kiara: Daddy, this has to stop.
Zira: You're even weaker than I thought. Get out of the way!
Kovu: You'll never hurt Kiara or Simba. Not while I'm here.
Simba: Stay out of this.
Kiara: A wise king once told me, "We are one." I didn't understand him then. Now I do.
Simba: But- they...
Kiara: Them? Us? Look at them. They are us. What differences do you see?
Kiara: [Alternate Scene]
[Zira is clinging onto the rock for her life when Kiara reaches out her paw to help]
Kiara: Zira, give me your paw!
Zira: [after looking down at the flood below, Zira grins disturbingly at Kiara and whispers vehemently] . No! Never!
[Lets go of the rock and falls into the swollen valley below]
Zira: .
Simba: Why have you come back?
Kovu: Simba, I had nothing to do with...
Simba: You don't belong here.
Kovu: Please. I ask your forgiveness.
Kiara: Daddy, please. Listen to him.
Simba: [to Kiara] Silence!
[back to Kovu]
Simba: When you first came here you asked for judgement. And I pass it now!
[animals were telling Simba to exile Kovu]
Simba: Exile!
Kiara: No!
Zira: Scar, watch over my poor Nuka.
Kiara: Hey. Thanks for saving me today.
Kovu: What kind of hunt are you in anyway, princess? You almost got yourself killed out there.
Kiara: What?
Kovu: You wouldn't last 3 days on your own.
Kiara: Oh, and I suppose you could teach me?
Kovu: Yeah.
Simba: Kiara!
Kiara: Coming!
Kiara: [she stalls Kovu] All right. Impress me. We start at dawn.
Kovu: I look forward to it.
Young Vitani: Nuka, where's Kovu? Did you leave him out there on his own again?
Nuka: Hey, it's every lion for himself out here. That little termite's gotta learn to be on his own.
[He itches for termites with his hind leg]
Young Vitani: Mother's gonna be mad if she told you to watch him!
Nuka: Oh, who cares. I should've been the chosen one.
[He continues to itch on his head, shoulder and back]
Nuka: I'm the oldest, I'm the strongest, I'm the smartest - Oh! These termites!
[bites for termites then rolls side to side]
Nuka: I could be a leader if she just give me a chance!
[itches the rump while dragging himself around Vitani]
Young Vitani: Pff. Yeah, right. Why don't you tell it to her.
Nuka: Yeah? Don't think I won't.
Young Vitani: Oh, yeah?
[chuckles]
Young Vitani: Here's your chance.
Simba: [as Kiara was leaving Pride Rock] Whoa!
[grabs hold of Kiara]
Simba: Where do you think you're going in such a hurry?
[Picks Kiara up and placed her beside him]
Young Kiara: Daddy. Let go.
Simba: Well, I just want you to be careful.
[Kiara chases a butterfly. Simba grabs her tail just as she was about to pounce]
Simba: Kiara, are you listening? Accidents can happen. You could easily get...
Young Kiara: Hurt or stepped on or even get lost.
Simba: And remember,
[releases Kiara's tail]
Simba: I want you to stay in sight of Pride Rock at all times.
Young Kiara: At all times. I know. And if I see any strangers, don't talk to them, come straight home. Okay, okay, can I go now? Please?
Simba: Very funny.
Timon: [Timon and Pumbaa scream as the antelope were running past them] This must be where the deer and the antelope play.
[they both scream again but towards Kiara]
Kiara: Timon, what are you doing here?
Timon: Shopping! We thought a nice pelt for the den, some throw pillows, a little potpourri...
Kiara: My father sent you. After he promised to let me do this on my own. He lied!
Timon: No. He just doesn't want you to get hurt.
Kiara: I should have known he'd never give me a real chance. I'll do this on my own! Away from the Pride Lands.
[she runs further away from Timon and Pumbaa]
Timon: Hey! Wait! Come back!
Pumbaa: Come back here! Kiara!
[they chase after Kiara]
Timon: Kiara, come back! She's gone again. Somebody's gotta get a beeper for this kid.
[first lines]
Timon: Ah, Pumba. Look at that little guy! A chip off the old block. And you gotta know who's gonna raise him.
Pumbaa: His parents?
Timon: Okay, sure. Get technical. But who's gonna teach him the real important stuff? Like how to belch.
[belches]
Timon: And dig for grubs. I'm telling you, buddy, it's gonna be like old times. You, me and the little guy.
Rafiki: [laughs] It is a girl.
Timon: Girl.
[They both faint]
Simba: Kiara, what did you think you were doing? You could've been killed today.
Young Kiara: But, Daddy, I... I didn't mean to disob...
Simba: I'm telling you this because I love you. I don't wanna to lose you.
Young Kiara: I know.
Simba: If something happened to you, I don't know what I'd do.
[rubs his head onto Kiara]
Simba: One day, I won't be here, and I need you to carry on in my place. We're part of the great Circle of...
Young Kiara: Circle of life. I know.
Simba: Exactly. And you need to be careful. As future queen...
Young Kiara: What if I don't wanna be queen? It's no fun.
Simba: That's like saying you don't wanna be a lion. It's in our blood, as I am. We are part of each other.
Adult Vitani: [while watching Kovu and Simba going into the cave] Get him. What are you waiting for, Kovu? Get him!
[gets furious and runs to tell Zira what she saw]
Timon: Hey! Wait! I have an Idea.
[he jumps off of Pumbaa]
Timon: What if he helps?
Pumbaa: What?
Timon: [to Kovu] You wanna lend a voice? Huh? Grr... gr... Roar! Work with me!
Kovu: Huh?
Kiara: Like this.
[she rawrs. The birds were scattered]
Timon: Wooo hoo! Come on, do it again! Do it again!
Timon: [Kovu rawrs making the birds scatter even more] Yee-haa!
Zira: Kovu was the last born before you exiled us to the outlands where we have little food, less water.
Simba: You know the penalty for returning to the pridelands.
Zira: But the child does not. However, if you need your pound of flesh, here.
[pushes Kovu towards Simba]
Simba: Take him and get out. We're finished here.
[picks up Kiara delicately]
Zira: Oh, no, Simba. We have barely begun.
[chuckles and picks up Kovu]
Zazu: Riff raff.
Simba: Father, I am lost. Kovu is one of them. Scar's heir. How can I accept him?
Nala: Simba?
Simba: I was seeking counsel from the great kings.
Nala: Did they help?
Simba: Silent as stars. My father would never...
Nala: My Simba. You want so much to walk the path expected of you. Perhaps Kovu does not.
Simba: What? How do you know...
Nala: I can see them down there just as easily as you can. Get to know him and see.
Nala: Kiara, you're all right.
Simba: What are you doing?
Timon: Good question. Let me ask you one.
Pumbaa: Hypothetically.
Timon: Very hypothetical. There's this guy...
Pumbaa: But he's not a lion.
Timon: No! No, he's not a lion. Definitely not a lion! And his daughter, say, vanished.
Simba: Kiara's gone?
Zazu: Sire, the Outsiders are on the attack, heading this way. It's war!
Simba: Zazu, find Kiara.
[to Timon and Pumbaa]
Simba: We'll assemble the lionesses. Move now.
Scar: Gotcha! Trust Me?
Zira: Scar, watch over my poor Nuka.
[furiously turns to Kovu]
Zira: You!
[slashes at Kovu, giving him a scratch over his eye just like Scar's]
Zira: What have you done?
Kovu: I didn't... I-I didn't mean to, i-it wasn't my fault, I... I did *nothing*!
Zira: Exactly! And in doing so, you betrayed your pride. Betrayed Scar!
Kovu: I want nothing more to do with him!
Zira: You cannot escape it! Nuka is dead because of *you*!
Kovu: No.
Zira: You've killed your own brother!
Kovu: NO!
[flees]
Simba: [to Kovu] It's kinda cold tonight, huh? Come on in.
[Simba and Kovu walk into the cave]
Young Vitani: Hey, Kovu. Wanna fight?
Zira: [snarling] You're sure?
Adult Vitani: Affirmative. I saw it with my own eyes.
Zira: Kovu cannot betray us!
Nuka: This is my moment of glory!
Rafiki: [to Kovu] Hey! You! How dare you save the King's daughter?
Simba: [to Kovu] My father's law will prevail. For now, I reserve judgement. We'll see who you really are.
Zazu: I must tell Simba!
Nala: Mind your father, Kiara.
Young Kiara: Yes, mom.
Simba: And stay away from the outlands.
Zazu: Nothing there but a bunch of backstabbing, murderous Outsiders.
Simba: Zazu's right. You can't turn your back on them.
Nala: Hold on, Kiara!
Young Kiara: [to Kovu] Tag! You're it! Tag! You're it! You're it! Hello? You run, I tag. Get it? What's the matter? Don't you know how to play?
Young Kiara: [Kovu and Kiara managed to escape the alligators] Whoa, did you see the size of those teeth? It was like,
[Kiara growls like the alligators and she giggles]
Young Kiara: We make a pretty good team!
[to Kovu]
Young Kiara: And you were really brave!
Young Kovu: [to Kiara] You were brave too!
[Kiara blushes]
Young Kovu: My name's Kovu.
Young Kiara: [Kiara giggles and goes close to Kovu] I'm Kiara.
[Kiara giggles then starts to play tag with Kovu; and tags his paw]
Young Kiara: Tag! You're it!
[Kiara is pouncing, ready to play]
Young Kiara: Tag! You're it! You're it!
[Kiara pounces and then stops]
Young Kiara: Hello? You run, I tag? Get it?
