Hollywood icon Julia Roberts will receive an honorary award at the 50th César Awards ceremony on February 28 in Paris. The César Academy, France’s equivalent to the Academy Awards, chose Roberts to honor at their milestone event.

Over the past three decades, Roberts has captivated audiences worldwide with her diverse acting roles. Her breakthrough performance in 1990’s “Pretty Woman” launched her to international stardom. Since then, Roberts has demonstrated her versatility through parts in romantic comedies such as “My Best Friend’s Wedding” and “Notting Hill.” She has also given powerful dramatic performances, such as in “The Pelican Brief” and “Erin Brockovich.” Roberts won the Academy Award for Best Actress for her leading role in “Erin Brockovich.”

An environmental advocate, she has lent her voice to documentaries about protecting the planet and actively campaigns for women’s rights.”

As it announced the honor, France’s Cesar academy recalled the actress’s performances as Vivian Ward in Garry Marshall’s Pretty Woman opposite Richard Gere, which earned her a Golden Globe for Best Actress and an Academy Award nomination.

It also highlighted the variety of her credits spanning romantic comedies such as My Best Friend’s Wedding and Notting Hill to dramas such as The Pelican Brief and Erin Brockovich, for which she won the Academy Award for Best Actress in 2001.

The British actor has written a new book called The American No, which he describes as the process of being courted by Hollywood, with producers waxing lyrical about a script and how they “can’t wait to work with you” but with no result.

Everett told The Times of London he appeared in Ridley Scott’s 2023 epic Napoleon as the Duke of Wellington, and went on to phone him about a role in Scott’s big-budget sequel to his 2000 blockbuster Gladiator.
