Storyline
Plot Summary |
A writer witnesses a murder that may have been politically motivated involving Argentinian Nationals. After picking the man out of a line-up and persuasively testifying in court against him, the man is convicted. However, his girlfriend shows up and says the man is innocent and produces a picture of a young child which she says will be without a father. This leaves the writer with doubts and then when he sees another man who looks very much like the killer, he becomes more certain that he made a mistake. However, everything is not as it appears and the writer finds himself drawn into the murder and blackmail.

Trivia | Hardaway's mention of Norman Mailer concerns his connection with career criminal Jack Henry Abbott, who in 1977 was impressed by one of Mailer's works, then contacted him in 1980. In 1981 Abbott was released, in part due to the work of Mailer, but six weeks later, in the early morning hours of Saturday the 18th of July, he stabbed to death Manhattan waiter Richard Adan, all because there were no toilets available to him at that time of the day in the restaurant. Mailer, in an interview over ten years later, expressed regret at his part in what turned out to be a fatal mistake. Ten year after that, in 2002, Abbott killed himself in prison. He was 58. His victim over twenty years earlier had been twenty two. See more » |
