    Return To Sender

If you are looking for an action-packed adventure movie for the entire family, go find something else to watch. This is simply the typical Hollywood teenage love story. Everyone knows, if you haven't found true love by the age of 16, life isn't worth living. In all honesty, there were several times during this film that I felt nauseous. Who knew teenage love could be so mushy and gross.

It seemed like most of the cast took a correspondence course in acting and the writers must have gotten their degree by sending in box tops from there favorite morning cereal.

Would I recommend "Address Unknown"? Yes, I would. I would recommend they return to sender. But, that's just me.

An interesting start to Shawn Levy's Filmography!

In anticipation for Deadpool & Wolverine, I've decided to watch the Filmography of Shawn Levy and I'll be starting off with Address Unknown (1997). This is one of those movies where I know nothing about it, so I watched it online and it was certainly interesting in many ways.

Positives for Address Unknown (1997): I liked the mystery aspect of this movie surrounding the main kid character and the death of his father. There's also a bit of a fun aspect to certain scenes, but there are several scenes of tension throughout the runtime. I also really like the mystery behind this stamp and why our main characters and the villains are trying to obtain it.

Negatives for Address Unknown (1997): The execution of the plot isn't done very well. There are certain performances that aren't the best and there are points throughout the runtime where I lost interest in the movie, but then again this was the first project that Shawn Levy directed and I can't really fault him for that.

Overall, Address Unknown (1997) is a interesting start to Shawn Levy's Filmography and I would recommend anyone who is a Shawn Levy fan to watch it, but go into it with mid expectations.

    *** out of ****

"address unknown" is surprisingly intriguing. As it started, I was expecting it to be a childish, amateurish, teenage spy spoof, but it wasn't. This film was actually smart. The writers actually took time out to develop their main characters genuinely instead of seeming like they had to. My only complaints are; I wish the parents were more involved in the story and the movie seems to shy too far away from the plot to focus on the characters. I found myself forgetting what the movie was about because of that. But all-in-all, the film is smart, the characters are interesting and funny, and the plot seems well-thought up. ***. A fun teen-sleuth film.

A false premise, but a very entertaining and well acted and directed film

Address Unknown is a very enjoyable film, especially because of its intelligent direction of actors, and the talent and personality of its two chief teenagers: Kyle Howard and Johnna Stewart, even if Howard looks younger than his character and himself are. I expect to see more of them. The trouble with this film is that once you have seen it and enjoyed it, the falseness of its initial sequence is evident. What were those two characters doing with a bag of U.S. Mail? Why was it in their hands? Why was it so important to them since it did not contain anything of real value, except a letter from one of them that was important only to the recipient?

Matt's mom states that she and her husband had played the "Blue Eyes Crying In The Rain" record on the jukebox many times during the night while they'd been waiting for the torrential rain to stop so that they could safely drive home again. Yet the record sounds pristine and almost brand-new when Matt and Tarra dance to it. Any phonograph record --- especially a 45rpm disc that turns faster than a regular LP --- would likely sound at least a little worn after having been played that many times.
