Good performers and the not really so insulting to 'Mum'
Keeping Mum is more about the long-suffering Andrew, Martin Ball plays this role with loving tender annoyance towards this Mum, played by Peggy Cole.Mum is not so senile as one may be led to believe. She is busy discovering new ways to keep Andrew home and to herself. Thus, rather than thinking that the show is exhibiting the elderly as scatterbrain and having to depend on others, I like to think of it as 'don't underestimate your elders, they are smarter than you think'.
