Storyline

"In every generation there is a chosen one... she alone will stand against the vampires, the demons and the forces of darkness. She is the slayer." Buffy Summers knows this tale by heart, and no matter how hard she tries to be just a "normal girl", she can not escape from her destiny... Thankfully, she is not alone in her quest to save the world, as she has the help of her friends, the hilarious (and surprisingly quite effective) evil-fighting team called "The Scooby Gang". Together, Buffy & co. will slay their demons, survive one apocalypse after another, attend high school and college... and above all, understand that growing up can truly be Hell sometimes... literally. Trivia

The first time it was planned that Angel would lose his soul, Joss Whedon was doubtful of David Boreanaz being capable of portraying the cruelty of Angelus; however, Whedon would later come to state that Boreanaz scared him in Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Becoming: Part 2 (1998). Boreanaz impressed Whedon so much playing Angelus possessed by the spirit of Grace Newman in Buffy the Vampire Slayer: I Only Have Eyes for You (1998) that he was given his own show. See more »

Goofs

Throughout the series, in episodes with 'good' Angel, Angel does not have a reflection in windows and mirrors. This is explained as it being due to the fact that he is a vampire. Vampires do not cast a reflection as they do not have souls; however, as Angel has a soul he should therefore cast a reflection. See more »

Crazy Credits

For the three first season 6 (the first UPN season) episodes (Bargaining parts 1 and 2, and Afterlife), the ending credits had almost 3/4 parts of the screen occupied by the Buffy logo (as seen on the opening with the moon behind), and the credits appearing under it. This was later returned to the normal black screen with the credits. See more »

Alternate Versions

Since being shown on BBC2 in the UK, this show has had two time slots, one for an edited version with hardly any excessive violance and bad language, and one late at night, uncut. See more »

One of the Finest Shows I've ever watched
7 December 2009 | by YoSafBridgeSee all my reviews

If I'm having a bad day I can always count on Buffy to cheer me up (or, even if it's one of those cases were I just need a good cry I can always count on Buffy for that as well). It's the perfect blend of so many different qualities...it's humour, action, romance and just incredibly well written, believably flawed characters. I'm not exactly sure where all the haters came from, it's honestly seems to me that this is a case of judging a show by it's title.

There's little I can say about Buffy that won't become redundant, there is not much to find fault with. Sure it's got it's bad episodes, bad story arcs just like any show. But what kept me coming back with the razor sharp wit and characters that became like a family to me.

This is a beautifully written show and if you can make it past the goofy title, fantastic premise and (for many people) the campy first season (You'll grow to love the camp upon re-visiting it) you'll discover one of the best show's in recent memory.
