"In every generation there is a chosen one... she alone will stand against the vampires, the demons and the forces of darkness. She is the slayer." Buffy Summers knows this tale by heart, and no matter how hard she tries to be just a "normal girl", she can not escape from her destiny... Thankfully, she is not alone in her quest to save the world, as she has the help of her friends, the hilarious (and surprisingly quite effective) evil-fighting team called "The Scooby Gang". Together, Buffy & co. will slay their demons, survive one apocalypse after another, attend high school and college... and above all, understand that growing up can truly be Hell sometimes... literally. Buffy's birthday was celebrated in the episode first aired on or near January nineteenth each year. In the first-year episode "I Robot, You Jane", Malcolm brings up Buffy's school records on his computer. In the first view, we see that Buffy was born on October 24, 1979, and a senior, then it's zoomed in, and says that it is October 24, 1980, and that she is a sophomore. The second time we see Buffy's records, her birthday is May 6, 1979, and she is a senior. Then her tombstone, in episode ten, stated a birth year of 1981. Joss Whedon finally decreed Buffy's birthday to be January 19, 1981. See more »
In nearly every episode presented in widescreen, there is crew/equipment visible and/or revealing mistakes. This is because the series was originally shot for 4:3 frame and these issues would not have been visible as the show was originally intended to be presented. As such, one should take much of the goofs reported on episodes as being conditional on applying only to the widescreen alternate version. See more »
It looks dead. It smells dead. Yet it's moving around. That's interesting.

During seasons 6 and 7, the ones that took place on the UPN network, the final shot of the opening credits shows Sarah Michelle Gellar, as in all the previous seasons. The difference is that rather than those images being that of Buffy, they were of facsimiles of the Buffy character. For the majority of Season 6 the final image of the opening credits was of the Buffy Bot shortly before Glory ripped its head off and Season 7's image was of the First Evil, pretending to be Buffy while manipulating Spike. For some fans this plays to the idea that Buffy was somehow not the same after having been resurrected at the beginning of Season 6 through the end of the series run. See more »
I have no idea why people are hating on this brilliant TV show. I watched the entire series on DVD and was completely caught up in it my the end of season one. This show stands up over time and does not become outdated. I watched this show thinking it would be an entertaining hour and was shocked to find the show compelling, hilarious, and full of real emotion. The writers and especially Joss Whedon have come up with some of the funniest TV out there, and easily keep your attention for the entire seven seasons. Each season seems to get funnier, and all the characters continue to develop. Anyone who gives this show a real chance will be captured by the Buffy Universe. If you can ignore some of the more low budget demons and instead focus on the characters and emotion of the story you will not be disappointed. BTVH will make you laugh, cry, and fall in love with the characters. 10/10.
