anything can happen, but some things shouldn't

I saw "Special Effects: Anything Can Happen" in Seattle's IMAX theater, making it the only nominee for Best Documentary Short Subject that I had seen before the Oscars got awarded (I later saw the winner "Breathing Lessons"). As the title makes clear, it's a look at the various types of special effects that have appeared in movies over the years, from stop-motion animation to CGI. It was neat to see the types of tricks that had gotten used in the likes of "King Kong" and "Jumanji", but I didn't like the focus on "Independence Day" (one of the worst movies ever made). And really, did ANYONE see that Shaquille O'Neal movie about the genie?

Overall it's a fun documentary. There's some impressive stuff to learn about what goes on behind the camera.
