not a bad gay movie at all

Considering the social implications of being gay in China (which the movie mentions) I feel this movie is not bad at all (bu zuo). Different aspects of being gay are documented and - the best part to my opinion - there is no sad ending like the guy dies and everything is in deep blue colors at the end. OK the characters are a bit larger than life but I guess most people would find sympathy with one or the other. It is true it feels a bit stale because it is "so true". But then again, this is Chinese reality and western folks should better have a look. As the other commenter puts it, there are moments where it feels long, but this is one of the small weaknesses of the movie.

classical but entertaining

Even if the movie is far from being original, the characters are well portrayed and Jordan Chan, overall, excellent in his role.Sometimes the movie seem a bit long, but it's a perfect alternative to Hollywood movies.
