Nelson Mandela & Paul Walker: Fans Honor Them In Joint Twitter Tributes

The world has lost two great souls this week: former South African president Nelson Mandela, who died on Dec. 5 at the age of 95, and actor Paul Walker, who tragically died in a fiery car crash at age 40. They will both be missed.

Fans are taking to Twitter to remember the late Nelson Mandela and the late Paul Walker in joint tributes. Sure, Nelson and Paul may seem like an unlikely pairing. Nelson obviously made an incomparable impact on the world — but every act of kindness counts, and Paul definitely tried to make a difference through his disaster-relief charity Reach Out Worldwide.

MGM Channel to debut in South Africa

MGM Channel to debut in South Africa
Movies from "Some Like It Hot" to "Mandela" will be beamed to subscribers on the just announced MGM Channel set to debut May 1 in South Africa on a new paybox called Top-tv.

Carriage agreement marks the first such exposure to southern Africa for the classic movie branded spinoff.

Local provider On Digital Media will start beaming Top-tv as South Africa's second pay platform offering 55 channels.


MGM Worldwide Networks under prexy Bruce Tuchman now boasts two dozen branded networks in as many local languages across all inhabited continents. An MGM HD channel launched just a few months ago on Sky in the U.K.

Despite the financial problems of the Lion back in Hollywood, channels exploiting the company's huge library of titles continue to be launched around the globe. No details were available for the terms of this latest deal.

Bruni, Stewart to play Mandela birthday gig

Carla Bruni and Dave Stewart will perform two duets for Nelson Mandela's birthday celebrations on July 18. The French President's wife and the former Eurythmics star will perform Bob Dylan's 'Blowin' In The Wind' as well as Bruni's own song 'Quelqu'un M'a Dit' at the Radio City Music Hall in New York. Eastwood's Mandela Movie Gets A Title And A Release Date

For a few days the buzz online has been that Clint Eastwood's Nelson Mandela movie, filmed under the working title The Human Factor, is now called Invictus. And it's always been assumed that the movie, firing on every Oscar cylinder imaginable, would be plunked down right in the heart of the awards season for maximum impact. So with that knowledge, nothing in today's Variety piece about the film is news, exactly-- the film is called Invictus, and it will come out on Dec. 11, opposite Peter Jackson's The Lovely Bones. But hey, it's good to have these things confirmed. Invictus stars Morgan Freeman-- who else?-- as the South Africa President, who tried to use the 1995 Rugby World Cup to bridge the divide in his country following the end of apartheid. Amy Winehouse compared her husband Blake Fielder-Civil to Nelson Mandela, Gordon Brown has claimed. The Prime Minister said he had to explain who Winehouse was to the former President of South Africa during his 90th birthday celebration. According to The Sun, Brown also attempted an explanation as to why Winehouse used the words "free Blakey my fella" in the famous 'Free Nelson Mandela' anthem.
