Educational for young students who may not be classical fans.
Although for the most part historically inaccurate, this film has a great place for use in the classroom. The films in this series provide a good outlet along with a story that children can follow all whilst hearing the music of Franz Liszt, also pointing out some of his unique contributions to the romantic era. Set in the middle of Liszt's performance career, we deal with a Liszt that is struggling to gain fame as a composer. Along the way, Liszt is challenged by a stubborn new pupil with outstanding talent. This is where the historical inaccuracies begin, however it is important to note that the "story" is just a means to an end. That end: a greater understanding of Liszt and his music. If you were to show this film in the classroom I would recommend you seek out the Teacher's guide for this series. Best suited for students grades 4-8.
