Hulu Hands Out Series Orders To Femme Fatale Drama ‘Reprisal’ & Russian Period Romp ‘The Great’ – TCA

Hulu has picked up to series two pilots, femme fatale thriller Reprisal and Elle Fanning-fronted period drama The Great. The digital platform announced the orders at TCA.

Reprisal comes from The Handmaid’s Tale exec producer Warren Littlefield. Written by Josh Corbin (StartUp), the show is a hyper-kinetic revenge tale following a relentless femme fatale who, after being left for dead, leads a vengeful campaign against a bombastic gang of gearheads.

The drama stars Abigail Spencer in the lead role alongside Rodrigo Santoro, Mena Massoud, Madison Davenport, Rhys Wakefield, David Dastmalchian, W. Earl Brown and Gilbert Owuor. The pilot was directed by Jonathan Van Tulleken (Off Season), who will exec produce the series, which is produced by A+E Studios and The Littlefield Company. Ann Johnson and Graham Littlefield serve as co-executive producers.

The series order comes after production on the pilot stalled in September as a result of Hurricane Florence.

Hulu Orders Drama Pilot From ‘Handmaid’s Tale’ Producer Warren Littlefield
Hulu has given a pilot order to a drama project that hails from executive producer Warren Littlefield and A+E Studios.

The pilot is titled “Reprisal.” It is described as a hyper-kinetic revenge tale following a relentless femme fatale who, after being left for dead, leads a vengeful campaign against a bombastic gang of gearheads.

Littlefield will executive produce along with Barry Jossen, Evp of A+E Studios. Josh Corbin is the writer on the project and will also serve as co-executive producer. Jonathan Van Tulleken will direct. The pilot is produced by A+E Studios in association with The Littlefield Company.

Littlefield currently executive produces Hulu’s Emmy-winning series adaptation of “The Handmaid’s Tale” and also produces the hit FX anthology series “Fargo.” Corbin’s previous writing credits include the Sony Crackle series “StartUp.”

Rafe Spall, Allison Tolman, John Slattery Join Hulu Comedy Pilot ‘Kansas City’
Ahead of its official pilot order at Hulu, the comedy “Kansas City” has cast several key roles.

John Slattery, Allison Tolman, and Rafe Spall will all star in the single-camera series. It is set in a world where the titular city has been divided by a wall to separate the conservative West K.C. from the liberal East K.C.

Spall will play Ben Graham, a citizen of East K.C., wearily has resigned himself to only being able to see his 15-year-old daughter for a few hours each day. That is, until he’s approached about being a spy.

Slattery stars as Ellis Brookmeyer is Ben’s ex-father-in-law, the last mayor of unified Kansas City and now the leading funder of West K.C.’s secret police. He will stop at nothing to bring East K.C. to its knees.

Rafe Spall (The Big Short), Mad Men alum John Slattery and Fargo standout Allison Tolman are set as the leads in Hulu’s political, dystopian half-hour comedy pilot Kansas City, from Amblin TV and Sony Pictures TV.

Set in Kansas City, the single-camera project, which has yet to get a formal pilot greenlight but already is in production, was written by Zev Borow (Lethal Weapon), with Rhys Thomas (Comrade Detective) set to direct.

Kansas City is set in a future where the city is separated by a wall between liberals and conservatives. Absurd misinformation and enmity rage as the two cities aim to undermine each other. In West Kansas City, political heavyweight Ellis Brookmeyer (Slattery) holds sway. His former son-in-law, Ben Graham (Spall), lives in East K.C. and yearns to be reunited with his daughter Clarissa (who lives in West K.C.). To accomplish this Ben gets involved with an East K.
