Key & Peele Return For Director Henry Selick’s New Feature – You Know, That Guy You Thought Tim Burton Was

Jordan Peele and Keegan-Michael Key have signed on to re-team for director Henry Selick’s new-stop motion film titled Wendell and Wild. The duo will provide voices for the stop-motion animated feature playing two scheming demon brothers. Who exactly is this Henry Selick fella you ask?

Admit it, You thought Tim Burton directed The Nightmare Before Christmas, James and the Giant Peach, and Coraline. It was in fact Mr. Selick. Selick is known for his unique style, who you ever so foolishly thought was Tim Burton’s style. His (not Burton’s) new film will be landing on Netflix in the not-too-distant future. This will surely disappoint those who enjoy stop-motion theatrical releases, but who will no doubt relish in the fact the new film Wendell and Wild also features the re-teaming of Key & Peele.

The script will be written by Selick, Peele and Clay McLeod Chapman. Peele is a busy man.

‘The Greatest Showman’: How ‘This Is Me’ Morphed from a Low-Key Ukulele Song into an Oscar-Nominated Anthem
If Benj Pasek and Justin Paul had been better at pirouettes, there’s a good chance that they would not be the reigning Best Original Song Oscar winners (“City of Stars,” “La La Land”), now vying for their second statues (“This Is Me,” “The Greatest Showman”).

The composers — who have only scripted songs for two completed films — became friends during their first week at the University of Michigan, where they studied musical theater. “We were the two worst students in our ballet class, which was required for our major,” Pasek told IndieWire by phone. “We were so bad at it that we would kind of hide behind each other and cover for each other, so that the teacher wouldn’t notice.” Unlike their confident, tights-clad peers, Pasek and Paul were dance novices in baggy sweatpants.

The next year, when they got cast as “Man with Camera” (Pasek) and “Coroner/Back-Up

Rebecca Ferguson is in talks to star opposite Hugh Bonneville in the upcoming film about the relationship between actress Patricia Neal and children’s author Roald Dahl. Swedish actor Ferguson would play Neal and Bonneville Dahl in the yet-to-be-titled project from Goldcrest Films.

Based on Stephen Michael Shearer’s novel “An Unquiet Life,” the film is written by John Hay and David Logan and set in New York, England and Los Angeles at the beginning of the 1960s. It shows Dahl’s struggles to write some of his most famous works and Neal’s return to acting with “Hud,” for which she won an Oscar.

Dahl was one of Britain’s most successful novelists, with bestsellers such as “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory,” “James and the Giant Peach” and “The Bfg,” all of which have adapted as feature films. Neal starred in Hollywood classics including “The Day the Earth Stood Still” and “Breakfast at Tiffany’s.”

Is the Nightmare Before Christmas a Halloween Movie or a Christmas Movie? Let's Settle This

The Nightmare Before Christmas is an iconic holiday movie, to be sure, but one thing about the stop-motion fantasy has never been quite clear: which holiday is it really about? Yes, a lot of the movie takes place in Halloween Town and main character Jack Skellington is the Pumpkin King, but there are also plenty of Christmas elements once Jack travels to Christmas Town. Is it a Christmas movie that happens to take place around Halloween, or is it a Halloween movie with strong Christmas themes? The debate between which is which has raged on among fans ever since the film's release in 1993 (in late October, it should be noted), so much so that director Henry Selick finally had to step into the fray. Selick, who went on to direct James and the Giant Peach and Coraline, participated in a Q&A at the Telluride Horror Show in Colorado back

Charlie Was Supposed to Be Black in Original Willy Wonka Book
Roald Dahl's widow says that Charlie Bucket from Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory was originally black. The original Charlie and the Chocolate Factory book, in which a boy from an impoverished family in Britain finds the fifth and final ticket to win a tour of the factory run by eccentric chocolatier Willy Wonka, was just one of many insanely successful children's classics written by Dahl that also inspired major motion pictures. James and the Giant Peach, The Bfg, Fantastic Mr. Fox, and Matilda were all from Dahl's books long before they were made into movies. But perhaps a bigger change was never requested of Dahl than to make his hero a white boy as opposed to African-American.

In honor of Roald Dahl Day, which is held on September 13th, the BBC interviewed Dahl's widow, Felicity, and his biographer, Donald Sturrock. During the interview, Felicity brought up that Charlie

Randy Newman Bashes President Trump, Putin and Himself at Hilarious Radio Concert

Randy Newman Bashes President Trump, Putin and Himself at Hilarious Radio Concert
Anyone who’s seen Randy Newman perform knows that even though he’s one of the greatest songwriters of the past 50 years — a multiple Grammy, Emmy and Oscar winner, contributor of classic songs to films like the three “Toy Story” titles, “Seabiscuit,” “James and the Giant Peach” — the real gold is in his concerts is his hilarious commentary, an undistilled, often unfiltered version of the cutting, self-deprecating and side-splitting humor that appears in his lyrics.

And his performance Wednesday night at New York’s Electric Lady Studios — which will be broadcast on Wfuv-FM/New York during the week of August 4, when “Dark Matter,” his first album of new material in nine years, is released — was certainly no exception. During the brief performance, which found him playing several songs — classics like “Sail Away” and “Feels Like Home” as well as selections from the new album, noodling on several more, and answering questions both from DJ Rita Houston

Best CGI Movies: Top 10 Sony Imageworks Visual Effects Movies Ranked
Sony Pictures Imageworks, celebrating its 25th anniversary, is unique in Hollywood as the only studio-run visual effects and animation division. Formed in 1992 (now headquartered in Vancouver), Imageworks alternates between live-action/CG hybrids and animation with its younger sister, Sony Pictures Animation, which was founded in 2002.

Imageworks has won two Oscars (“Spider-Man 2” VFX and “The ChubbChubbs!” animated short) along with an Academy Sci-Tech award this year for an advanced shading program. But Imageworks first cut its teeth on “Speed,” “James and the Giant Peach,” “Jumanji,” “Starship Troopers,” and “Contact” before tackling “Stuart Little” in 1999, the first-cg-animated character to star in a live-action feature.

Since then, Imageworks spear-headed performance capture-based virtual production with director Robert Zemeckis (“Polar Express,” “Monster House”), and has continued to work on franchises including “Spider-Man” (“Homecoming” opens this week), “The Smurfs,” and “Hotel Transylvania.”

Here’s our ranking of the 10 best VFX moments from Imageworks:

Terrifying indie darling Little Nightmares is being adapted for TV, with Henry Selick directing

Well, that didn’t take long! Little Nightmares officially released for PS4, XBox One, and PC back in April to positive reviews, and already the title is being adapted into a television series. The game will be adapted by Joe and Anthony Russo, who are the minds behind the upcoming Avengers: Infinity War; the two will serve as executive producers for the series.

The project is a result of production company DJ2 Entertainment noticing the game prior to its release, and partnering with Bandai Namco while the game was in development. The Russo brothers eventually won out on a bidding war for the rights to adapt the title.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the pilot episode will be directed by none other than The Nightmare Before Christmas director Henry Selick. At this time, Selick is only attached to the pilot episode, but the article does state that there is a

The live-action adaptation of The Lion King is in the works and now the long rumored live-action Pinocchio may have found a director.
