Michael T. Weiss,
After spending years in the Peruvian jungle during his tour in Army Special Forces, Cascade PD Detective James Ellison developed hyperactive senses, which came back to him five years after his return to the US. He can see people in darkened windows at night from two hundred yards, hear the music playing on the radio of the car he's chasing after he's lost sight of it, and can distinguish between wood and plastic after both have been in a three thousand degree fire. Blair Sandburg, a local anthropology student, tells Ellison that he is a "Sentinel," who in ancient tribes would protect the village and seek out game using such hyperactive senses. Sandburg becomes Ellison's back-watcher and teacher of how to use his new powers as Ellison brings a whole new edge to the war on crime in Cascade, Washington.Written by

The series was originally intended to be set in Seattle, but city officials asked the producers to change so as to not give their town a reputation as a crime scene. Thus, the fictional city of Cascade came into being. The only remnant of Seattle was an undeleted reference to the Seattle Supersonics in the pilot episode. The Cascade basketball team became the Jaguars in later episodes. See more »
Oh, hey. Notice how the war chant of the Yanomamo headhunters finds its pulse in the cellars of Seattle. I'm sure your dad used to say that stuff all the time about the Stones. "Hey, hey, turn that jungle music down."
Yes, he did. So do I. You mind?

The Sentinel was one of the best shows I've seen. It managed to tie in credible cop plots with a bit of sci-fi and make it enjoyable. Richard Burgi and Garett Maggart made a great team and it was so nice to see Aussie actress Anna Galvin as Megan with Aussie accent and colloquialisms instead of the usual fake "cockney" types American shows give us a being typically Australian. Nice job Anna. Now if we can could just get them to remake it.
