He finds it in Ryu, a young wanderer who never stays in one place long enough for Bison to find him. He does, however, get a fix on Ken Masters, an American martial arts champion who studied with Ryu as a child under the same master. Meanwhile, Major Guile of the United States Army is forced to team up with Chun Li from China in hopes of apprehending Bison and putting a stop his international ring of crime. Trivia

Ryu and Ken's younger appearances from there flashbacks are an alternate design of there appearances from Capcom's original Street Fighter [1987]. The past takes place in 1987 as Ryu and Ken were both aged 23 on that year and the present takes place in 1991 as Ryu and Ken are aged 27 on that year as well (according to the date of births on there profiles). In the game, the Ryu Vs. Sagat event took place on the past in the dawn of Thailand, in this animated movie, the event takes place on the present in the dusk of Australia. See more »

Goofs

In the American version of this film, in the scene where Chun-Li is briefing her Interpol superior, profiles of Sagat, Balrog and Vega are shown. In Vega's profile, under the name section, it is written "VEGA" but under the comments section, Vega is referred to as "Balrog." This is because "Balrog" is the actual name of the character that is known as "Vega" to American audiences. In Japan, Vega is known as "Balrog," Balrog is known as "M. Bison" or "Mike Bison," and M. Bison is known as "Vega." What the characters are called by in Japan are the original, actual names for the characters in the Street Fighter franchise. When editing this film for American audiences, the editors successfully changed Vega's profile so that "VEGA" appeared in the name section instead of "BALROG" but missed making the same edit in the comments section of the profile. Much better then the live action version.
29 February 2000 | by Blinking_FishSee all my reviews

Now this is what the live action street fighter should have looked like. At least in this movie the characters stories are right (most of them). The fight scenes in this movie are really good. Especially the bloody fight between Vega and Chun-Li, for the most part of that Chun-Li is dodging Vega's claw as KMFDM is playing in the background. The soundtrack was changed for the dubbed version, adding bands songs that we know or don't know so well for a few scenes but leaving most of the film score the same during most fight scenes. The songs actually fit with what's going on. The only one that I think was playing in a fight scene was Ultra, and that went really good matching the fast paced action that was happening on screen. The only thing that bugs me a bit is that part of the shower scene was cut. It was a scene that showed Chun-Li's breasts for about 5 seconds. It's not the fact that the nudity was cut out that bugs me it's the fact that I don't like it when I movie gets cut and I find out about it knowing that if I was in another country it could see it. The movie was great overall and anyone who wants to see a good Martial arts film should see it.

My review 8.
