Storyline

Nomi Malone, a mysterious young girl with the ambition to dance embarks on a journey to Las Vegas to become a showgirl in a high-class hotel show. There she meets Molly, a seamstress at the Stardust Hotel and the two quickly become good friends. She gets a job as a lap dancer at the seedy Cheetah Club but after a chance meeting with Cristal Connors, the star of Goddess, the current show at the hotel where Molly works, Nomi manages to secure an audition for a spot on the chorus line. However she soon realises that fame comes with a price as her friendships, her morals and her soul are put to the test as she works her way up the ladder and eventually becomes the star of the show, stealing Cristal's part. She begins to wonder if all of her work was for nothing and if she can reclaim her life back before it is too late. Written by David Rush

Trivia

Paul Verhoeven later said of the rape scene, "Nearly every character in the movie is a bad person except for one girl, Molly, and she is the one who gets raped. Molly is the only really genuinely supportive person and she is punished. The reason I did this was to show that Vegas is not a nice place and that is basically what the movie is all about. It is possible 'Showgirls' was lacking in closure. Even some of my closest collaborators felt that way and have said they thought the rape scene took the fun out of the movie." See more »

A Good Film That You Have To Think About
12 October 2000 | by Frosh-2See all my reviews

Ok,Ok and Ok,This movie is a little PORNO..yes,it is..but this movie have an history that is true...in the city of las vegas it happened...and we see this movie just think about the sex scenes and the body of the actress who work in this movie, this isn't right...We have to pay attetion with the history...The life of a model...a model who is used by men..

My Personal Rating For This Movie Is: [*** / ****] - the porno scenes can be more HARD THAN THIS....
