Cannes Film Review: ‘Sextape’

Majid (Mehdi Dahmane) and Salim (Sidi Mejai), the characters who occupy the head-spinningly raunchy center of “Sextape” — along with their girlfriends, Rim (Inas Chanti) and Yasmina (Souad Arsane), who are sisters — have the distinction of being two of the most flippantly insensitive young male dicks ever seen in the movies. They’re over-the-top, without scruples or shame; whatever happens, they don’t give a f—k. Yet the joke is that there’s nothing too remarkable about them. As the film presents it, they’re cads of their generation, bros who grew up on hardcore amateur video and the brotherhood of frat-house misogyny (a value system so widespread that it no longer requires spending time in an actual frat house), where girls are treated like fleshbot mannequins.

Half the conversation in “Sextape” is about blowjobs — how to get them, who’s going to give them — and it’s funny, for a while,

Zac Efron is Sporting a Crazy New Punk Look in Harmony Korine's The Beach Bum

Some photos have surfaced from Harmony Korine's upcoming stoner film The Beach Bum and Zac Efron is sporting an insane new look. This is definitely different from anything that we've seen from the actor below.

Zac Efron is playing a character named Flicker, and as you'll see he's got a very colorful punk rock style. According to IndieWire, The Beach Bum follows a "rebellious stoner named Moondog (Matthew McConaughey) who lives life by his own rules." Efron's character Flicker is just one of the many characters that he meets on his journey.

The movie is said to be a stoner comedy, but knowing Korine's previous work, you can bet there's going to be a dramatic dark undertone. Korine's previous work includes Gummo, Kids, Spring Breakers, and Trash Humpers.

The Beach Bum also stars Isla Fisher, Jimmy Buffet, and Snoop Dogg.

Efron is currently shooting Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and

Sundance 2018: Skate Kitchen Review

  • HeyUGuys
Author: Ty Cooper

Over the course of time, skateboarding has provided the world with a boundless amount of entertainment. As the sport has ebbed and flowed its way through culture, it has dug an irreplaceable place in the hearts of skaters and non-skaters alike.

Most films about skating tend to not be very good, and it’s almost impossible to see an accurate portrayal of skate life up on the silver screen. Lords of Dogtown and Kids are the few rare exceptions, but their release dates are almost a decade apart. As we barrel our way through the 2000s, it’s time for another movie to take up the mantel for this new generation of cinema; and that film may be Skate Kitchen.

Skateboarding is all about progression; finding new and innovative ways to push the sport. However the skate scene is still plagued by a boys-club mentality and films

Sundance Film Review: ‘Skate Kitchen’

Sundance Film Review: ‘Skate Kitchen’
The last time Crystal Moselle brought a film to Sundance, she won the 2015 festival’s jury prize for her stranger-than-fiction documentary study of seven cinema-obsessed, shut-in Manhattan siblings, “The Wolfpack.” Back in Park City with her first narrative feature, Moselle has uncovered yet another inimitable group of real-life New York youngsters, this one a posse of female skateboarders who haunt Lower East Side parks under the name Skate Kitchen. And though she’s given each skater a character to play and a fictional arc to play out, Moselle seems just as eager to let these young women be themselves as she was with “The Wolfpack’s” Angulo brothers. “Skate Kitchen” has plenty to say about the lengths to which young women must go to clear out a little breathing room in testosterone-heavy spaces, but it is first and foremost an irresistible hangout movie, offering a thoroughly millennial, vérité spin on ’80s skater classics like “Thrashin’.” Given the proper

Sundance Film Review: ‘Eighth Grade’

Sundance Film Review: ‘Eighth Grade’
No one likes eighth grade. It’s the compulsory military service of American adolescence, the cod liver oil every child must swallow on her way to adulthood. In the rigged Russian roulette game of human genetics, it’s the bullet in the chamber, that pimple-infested, body-odorous, hair-in-uncomfortable-new-places minimum-security prison every girl must endure, the real-life horror movie to which you can’t close your eyes. Worst of all, the scars that happen here are pretty much guaranteed to haunt you for life.

Welcome to “Eighth Grade,” kids! Whether it’s been two days or two decades since you suffered through it yourself, your heart goes out to Kayla (Elsie Fisher), the young woman we meet tightrope-walking over those shark-infested waters in writer-director Bo Burnham’s remarkable feature debut. If Burnham’s name doesn’t ring a bell, then you most likely belong to the demographic who will see this movie as a cross between last year’s

Halloween 2017: Siblings & Scares Double Feature – Mom’S Got A Date With A Vampire and Hocus Pocus

  • DailyDead
[To get you into the spooky spirit, the Daily Dead team is spotlighting double features that we think would be fun to watch this Halloween season. Check here for more double feature recommendations and other Halloween 2017 coverage.]

There’s nothing quite like an outside threat to bring a family together, especially when that threat is of the undead variety. Siblings may not always get along, but when your sister’s soul is sought by a coven of witches, or when your mom is eyed as an eternal bride by a coffin-dwelling creep, it’s time to take those Sister Sledge lyrics to heart and become a family that can overcome anything—including wicked spells and sharp fangs. Set on respective fateful nights where the future of a homestead hangs in the balance and its up to siblings to save it, Mom’s Got a Date with a Vampire and Hocus Pocus are family-friendly films that make for a great double feature during the Halloween season.

Perhaps the less-known of the two films, Mom’s Got a Date with a Vampire will likely ring a nostalgic bell for

Hospital Transforms Kids' Wheelchairs Into Dream Halloween Costumes: 'This Should Be Magical for Everyone'

Trick-or-treating while in a wheelchair wasn’t easy last year for 5-year-old Penny Ryan, who had to wait on the sidewalk for her siblings to bring her candy, then try to catch up with friends in her Sandy, Utah, neighborhood.

“Just maneuvering the wheelchair and trying to figure out how to incorporate it into a costume was difficult,” says the preschooler’s mom, Ashley Ryan, 34, a mother of three. “And a lot of times, Penny felt as though as she was watching the fun from the sidelines.”

This year, things are different, thanks to staffers and volunteers at Shriner’s
