‘A Quiet Place’ Looks to Make Noise at Weekend Box Office

‘A Quiet Place’ Looks to Make Noise at Weekend Box Office
While sci-fi epics and action-adventures have dominated theaters over the past few months, two fresh genres are looking to shake things up at the domestic box office.

Horror thriller “A Quiet Place” and R-rated comedy “Blockers” are expected to have solid openings this weekend, with the former likely to take the crown.

Paramount Pictures’ “A Quiet Place” — John Krasinski’s third directorial effort and first for a major studio — could launch to as much as $30 million, but other estimates are in the low $20 millions, at 3,200 locations. The film, which opened at South by Southwest to rave reviews, currently boasts a 100% on Rotten Tomatoes.

The Office” star Krasinski co-wrote the movie and stars alongside his real-life wife, Emily Blunt. The pic follows a family of four who must live in silence while hiding from creatures that hunt by sound.

Another title hoping to translate SXSW enthusiasm into box office success is Universal’s “Blockers.

John Goodman (‘Roseanne’) eyes second Emmy victory, first for portrayal of Dan Conner

John Goodman (‘Roseanne’) eyes second Emmy victory, first for portrayal of Dan Conner
Over his remarkable career on the small screen, John Goodman has earned a total of 11 Emmy nominations, including seven for his role as Dan Conner on “Roseanne,” the series that launched his career. However, none of those seven bids proved to be lucky for him. His sole Emmy win came in Best Guest Drama Actor for “Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip” in 2007.

While Goodman never won an Emmy for his acclaimed turn on “Roseanne,” leading lady Roseanne Barr won once while scene-stealer Laurie Metcalf took home three Best Comedy Supporting Actress trophies. This year, with the much-anticipated revival of the series, Goodman could finally win an Emmy for portraying the Conner family patriarch.

Despite his unsuccessful run at the Emmys, Goodman was no amateur at selecting exceptional episodes of “Roseanne” for voters’ consideration.

Luna Lee Performs A Medley Of Rock Songs On A Traditional Korean Gayageum

Luna Lee has been performing on YouTube on her Korean Gayageum for a little while now and this medley of rock songs just continues to prove how awesome she is. Right from the start she goes into Born to Be Wild and you can hear every note strummed perfectly as her fingers work their magic. One can only imagine how much practice has to be put in to make the instrument make these sounds in such a precise and identifiable way. The dynamics for such an instrument don’t seem too difficult but obviously it would take some serious practice to

The Top Uses of Steppenwolf’s “Born to be Wild” in Movies or TV

Born to Be Wild was Steppenwolf’s most popular single and it’s been widely used in pop culture even to this day. The quick tempo and easy sound have been attributed to the easygoing and laid back life of the biker culture that it was written for. There’s even a belief that it was the first heavy metal song released to the public, but that’s not exactly confirmed. What is known is that it’s one of the songs that made Steppenwolf so popular with their fans and one of their songs that’s managed to withstand the test of time. Any song

New Photo and Details From Disneyland's Guardians Of The Galaxy - Mission Breakout!

As much as I love Guardians of the Galaxy, I'm still upset that Disney replaced The Twilight Zone-themed ride Tower of Terror with Guardians of the Galaxy - Mission Breakout!. An official photo recently surfaced that you can see above, and Disney recently invited some journalists to take a "hard hat" tour of the new attraction.

I don't know about you, but that building is an eyesore. I'm not a big fan of the ugly design, but there's apparently a reason for it. Danny Handke, creative director for the project from Walt Disney Imagineering told the Oc Register that, "It embodies the spirit of 'The Collector,' a villain in the movie. It’s weird, it’s bold, grandiose and it’s arrogant, like the character." Benicio Del Toro reprises his role for the ride, as does Chris Pratt and Zoe Saldana and more. He goes on to say:

Super Bowl Commercials: Peter Fonda Gears Up for Mercedes-Benz on Game Day

Super Bowl Commercials: Peter Fonda Gears Up for Mercedes-Benz on Game Day
Members of a younger generation who take in a new Super Bowl commercial from Mercedes-Benz this Sunday might get a lesson in the popularity of the seminal film “Easy Rider.” Peter Fonda doesn’t mind.

“Columbia maintains it only made like $20 million, but I’ve been cashing the checks, so I know how much it made,” the actor joked in a recent interview. When he appears in the Mercedes ad evoking the “Captain America” character he played in the 1969 movie, he thinks it will whet appetites for the film’s 50th anniversary, which will take place in 2019.

Fonda says he was excited to get an invite to appear in the commercial, which is directed by the famous director-producers Joel and Ethan Coen. The ad has quite a tableau: a biker bar called Tiny’s filled with bikers dressed to the very last detail. One stout fellow has the visage of Fonda’s movie character etched upon his

Super Bowl Ad Review: Coen Brothers Try to Rev Audiences for Mercedes

Super Bowl Ad Review: Coen Brothers Try to Rev Audiences for Mercedes
Joel and Ethan Coen have lured moviegoers to films ranging from “The Big Lebowski” to “No Country for Old Men.” Can they now direct football fans to blow tens of thousands of dollars on a new Mercedes?

That will be the challenge come Sunday, when a 30-second ad will air during Super Bowl Li featuring Peter Fonda, the auto manufacturer’s slick Amg roadster, and a gang of burly bikers listening to Steppenwolf’s “Born to be Wild.” The question, of course, will be if the Coens can make the kind of art that leads to commerce.

Based on the teaser made available online – a 60-second behemoth that will no doubt be ill-served by the editor’s knife when it is cut down to half that length – the answer may be “No.” After spending time with the colorful denizens of the tavern (it’s called “Tiny’s,” by the way) it’s hard to figure out why

The Coen Bros. Directed a Mercedes Super Bowl Commercial Called Easy Rider, Check it Out!

Joel and Ethan Coen directed a great Super Bowl commercial for the Mercedes Amg Gt roadster. It features Peter Fonda and Steppenwolf's classic song "Born to be Wild." The ad was obviously inspired by the classic 1969 film Easy Rider, which starred Fonda. The Coen Bros. are two of my favorite filmmakers working in Hollywood today, and it's pretty cool to see them jump in to make a Super Bowl ad like this.

Riding on the open road with Steppenwolf's "Born to be Wild" playing in your head. How do you make this experience any better? Hint: The legendary Peter Fonda might have an idea. Watch Peter Fonda come back for one more epic ride – this time with The Coen Brothers.

I hope you enjoy what they've come up with for this.

Watch Coen Brothers' 'Easy Rider'-Inspired Super Bowl 51 Commercial
Ahead of Super Bowl 51, Mercedes unveiled their Coen Brothers-directed, Easy Rider-inspired ad that features that cult film's star Peter Fonda.

The minute-long commercial takes place in a Route 66 roadhouse where a batch of bearded bikers congregate to worship at the alter of Easy Rider as Steppenwolf's "Born to Be Wild," the film's unofficial anthem, booms out of a jukebox that only plays "Born to Be Wild."

The Coens' knack for comical violence is on full display as the bikers cause raucous in the roadhouse until one angry

The commercial kicks off with an aging biker eyeing the jukebox, where just one song is available: Steppenwolf’s “Born to Be Wild” – made famous, of course, by Fonda and Dennis Hopper’s 1969 classic film “Easy Rider.” (The camera even pans to a shot of an “Easy Rider” poster, like the one above.)

The bikers in this bar, however, don’t exactly exude the same cool as Fonda and Hopper did nearly 50 years ago. Eventually, a younger patron barges in and

Watch: Joel and Ethan Coen’s Mercedes Super Bowl Ad Featuring Peter Fonda

After directing one of the best films of last year and before they head to television for the first time, Joel and Ethan Coen will be seen during the Super Bowl. Well, maybe not on screen, but they’ve directed an ad for Mercedes, which clocks in at over a minute aka a cost of around $10 million for the company.

Highlighting the Mercedes-amg Gt Roadster, it features none other than Peter Fonda in an Easy Rider nod, as well as Steppenwolf‘s Born to be Wild. As with any other Coen production, all of these characters could probably lead their own film. Check it out below ahead of the Super Bowl next weekend.

Amazon signed a deal worth a reported £160m with former Top Gear presenters Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May – and it’s doing its best to get its money’s worth before their new series launches next year.

It has just launched an advert for Amazon’s Fire TV Stick featuring Clarkson, who is shown gliding around a country house on a Segway backed by Steppenwolf’s rock classic Born to be Wild.

American Idol Recap: New York, New York… A Helluva Town [Updated]
“I’m goin’ to Hollywood!” — the preferred battle cry of the American Idol audition rounds — may take on a whole new meaning after Season 14’s New York City tryouts.

I mean, if soulful troubadour Hollywood Anderson — who stunned the judges (and moved J.Lo to tears) with a radio-ready original called “My Best Friend” — becomes the franchise’s next Kelly Clarkson or Carrie Underwood, any future contestant who shouts that phrase might sound more like they’re auditioning for CBS’ Stalker or another “this isn’t gonna end well” installment of 48 Hours: Mystery than Fox’s venerable singing competition.

Magnificent as Hollywood was,
