Kirk Hartman is no longer a mischievous screw up teenage son and school kid but has a job as a graphical artist and lives alone in the city where he works. When his parents move to Europe, the tables are turned as he finds himself placed in charge as surrogate-father of his 17-year-old brother Corey, 14-year-old sister Phoebe and 7-year-old brother Russel. Meanwhile he woos the beautiful neighbor Elizabeth Waters, who still finds him rather immature but learns to appreciate his charm and kind heart while developing her maternal potential as the motherless Hartman family lacks a woman's hand. Finally there's Kirk's slick macho friend next door, Eddie Balducci. Written by KGF Vissers

No one cut Kirk any breaks
14 August 2016 | by bkoganbingSee all my reviews

Kirk Cameron plays Kirk Hartman in Kirk and this series lasted a year on television. Given Cameron's fundamentalist parameters were lucky it lasted that long. Of course wife Chelsea Noble was part of this as well playing the girl in the same apartment building that Kirk was living a carefree bachelor life in as a commercial artist.

But then his parents move to the United Kingdom and don't take his minor siblings with them. What kind of parents are these? So Kirk gets stuck with Will Estes, Taylor Fry, and Courtland Mead. He thinks they're cramping his style, but they might be the key to winning over Ms. Noble who develops a maternal instinct over them.

The only other cast member in this series is Leonard Vanaria who is an alpha male in the tradition of Pat Harrington from One Day At A Time. He had some of the best lines in the series.

It wasn't a horribly bad series, but Kirk wasn't a really good one. The kids never developed individual personalities and the show befitting its title concentrated on its star. Who was just becoming a controversial figure with his views. Critics were not going to cut Kirk Cameron a break.

So Mr.&Mrs. Cameron left regular network television and we only now see them on religious based programming.

A little known footnote in the controversial career of Kirk Cameron.
