Storyline

It's nearing the 10th Anniversary of the film 'A Nightmare on Elm Street' and one of the stars, Heather Langenkamp is being scared by a voice on a phone, sounding very similar to the film's villain, Freddy Krueger. When Heather's husband is killed in a car accident and is discovered with slash marks on him, Heather starts to wonder something. Especially when she discovers that Wes Craven is writing another 'Nightmare' film. Soon, she realizes that Freddy has now entered the real world, and the only way to defeat him is to become Nancy Thompson once again. Written by Film_Fan

Trivia

This is the only film in the Nightmare franchise to feature orchestrated music during the credits, rather than a song like all the other films, including Freddy vs. Jason (2003) and the remake, A Nightmare on Elm Street (2010). See more »

Goofs

Right after the second aftershock when Heather Langenkamp sees the four cracks appear in the wall she runs down the stairs and is wearing only black nylons on her feet. When she bends over to hug Dylan she is seen wearing powder blue slippers; then in the next shot after she comes back from calling Jason at the door, the slippers are gone again. See more »

Quotes

Heather Langenkamp: Actually, it's been giving me Freddy nightmares.
Robert Englund: Wait a second. Now, let me get this straight. You're having nightmares about Freddy? As in me?
Heather Langenkamp: No. It isn't you. He's scarier. He's...
Robert Englund: Darker? More evil?

Crazy Credits

Near the end of the credits reads: "Some parts of this motion picture were inspired by actual events. Others may be attributed to the overactive imagination of a five-year-old boy" ... "The names of certain of the characters portrayed have been changed to protect the innocent. Certain incidents portrayed have been dramatized. With the exclusion of those courageous individuals who portrayed themselves, any similarity to the name, character or history of any person, living or dead, is entirely coincidnetal and unintentional." Scary, a decent one, Wes Craven's vision of more menacing and creepy Freddy Krueger
12 October 2018 | by rambofan4lifeSee all my reviews

Scary a decent good gory slasher film from Wes Craven more creepy horror film than the sequels Freddy is more a menacing and creepy ugly than in the sequels. This is one of my favorite slasher films it is my second favorite Wes Craven film and it is top 5 Wes Craven films. The First one will be A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984), number 3: Scream, number 4: Shocker and number: 5 The People Under the Stairs. I like Wes Craven's New Nightmare a lot and I enjoy it very much but a lot of people having this film in their second spot in Elm Street series or their number 1 favorite film.

It is my number 6 favorite in the "Elm Street" series. It is not the greatest film of all time, the best one but it is a good horror slasher film. Yes I put Nightmare on Elm Street Part 2: Freddy's Revenge over this film sue but I love Part 2 more than this movie.

The reason why is in my sixth rank not 5,4, 3 or 2 or number 1 it is because I appreciate and love the original A Nightmare on Elm Street from 1984 more. I appreciate A Nightmare on Elm Street 3. Dream Warriors more: Chuck Russell, Wes Craven, Bruce Wagner and Frank Darabont worked hard on the screenplay and the story. Wes Craven want to kill off Nancy Thompson (Heather Langenkamp) because he thought to end the trilogy so I appreciate Dream Warriors more. I appreciate Freddy Vs. Jason much more than this film. I appreciate Robert Englund's performance and the make up in Freddy vs Jason more. Both of horror icon's acted the way they did in the franchises so I have enjoyed that film more. I appreciate A Nightmare On Elm Street 4: The Dream Master more which was directed by Renny Harlin who directed Die Hard 2 and Cliffhanger and I have enjoyed that film more. The Dream Master is quilt pleasure of mine so yea. I appreciate A Nightmare on Elm Street Part 2: Freddy's Revenge more it get criticism for trying something different so yea.

This is the longest film in the Elm Street franchise it is not part of the series. Wes Craven wanted to make this movie in 1986 or 1987 I am not sure but it was rejected by New Line Cinema but after Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare, Wes Craven worked on this movie and directed brilliantly so I appreciate this movie and I appreciate Wes Craven's work.

Freddy Krueger in this movie is more a demon from hell who took a life form of Freddy Krueger and is stalking the cast and crew who made the films about him and blames them for killing him off. Wes Craven's vision is more menacing and creepy Freddy Krueger than in the sequels and not a comedian. Heather Langenkamp plays herself and plays Nancy Thompson by the end of the film she is brilliant, smart, gorgeous, sexy heroine ever. I love the actress to death she is my favorite horror actress icons ever. Heather is a bad ass she has to fight for her son who becomes the target of Freddy Krueger demon who wants to kill her son. Robert Englund plays brilliantly himself and demon Freddy Krueger really scary who invades in to real world. Freddy Krueger is listed as himself on the end of the credits. John Saxon playing himself and Lt. Donald Thompson convincing and he really supports Heather so much. Wes Craven has a little cameo scene with Heather Langenkamp and he is good. Heather is a goddess in this movie she is talented playing her self.

I love the gore and the film is really creepy and scary on the end in which Freddy tried to eat Dylan (Miko Hughes), Heather's son. That scene scared me so much. Not really fan of this guy but he did a good job playing Heather's son. Tracy Middendorf as Julie really liked her she looked like Jennie Garth as Kelly Taylor from Beverly Hills 90210 they both look similar. I like the gore, the creepy atmosphere but the problem with the film I have it is too long. Whole hour we don't see Freddy Krueger the make up and the design is completely different that Freddy Krueger was. It takes 1 hour and I think 17 minutes until we see Freddy Krueger. I wanted to see more the character and I want it that Nancy was clever like she was in the first movie, she wasn't in here.

The movie is more realistic and darker way too dark for me. It is a decent good slasher film but I appreciate A Nightmare on Elm Street 1,2,3,4 and Freddy Vs. Jason much more than this film but still not a bad one.
