Capcom was co-financier of the film, so every aspect of production required their approval. Among other things, they mandated a December 1994 release date, which required the cast and crew to maintain an aggressive filming schedule. Capcom had long envisioned Jean-Claude Van Damme as Guile and asked him to be cast. Van Damme's fee took nearly $8 million of the film's $35 million budget. After Raul Julia was cast as Bison, most of the casting budget had been spent. The majority of other parts had to go to little-known or unknown actors. See more »

The title sequence is different, depending whether you watch the International version (distributed by Columbia, the Street Fighter logo just appears after the Columbia lettering) or the US version (distributed by Universal, the Street Fighter logo appears over the Universal globe). See more »
This movie is TERRIBLE. Van Damme give his worst performance. "Who wants to go home and who wants to go with me"? This movie is as entertaining as a 9 volt battery. This one is not worth it. This movie will probably be way cool if your a 6 or 7 year old. Too bad Raul Julias last movie had to suck so badly. They can't even say Ryu's name right for crying out loud. Street Fighter is about Ryu and Ken not Guile. Raul Julia did do a good job playing Bison though. That was the only part of this suck-fest worthwhile. This movie is totally opposite from the game except for the part about Bison trying to take over the world. This movie is a JOKE. So are the fight sequences. Never watch this movie.
