Storyline

The third Highlander movie takes place at 1994, which means it's a prequel of the second film. After the death of his beloved wife Heather some centuries ago, Connor MacLeod left the highlands of Scotland and wandered around the world. Finally, he got to Japan, where he met the famous sorcerer Nakano, who was an Immortal too. Soon, they became friends, and Nakano taught Conor some tricks. But one day, an old enemy, Kane, came to Japan willing to find Nakano's cave and kill him. Although he succeeded, after cutting Nakano's head the mountain collapsed and Kane was trapped. Now, centuries after, an excavation reveals Nakano's cave... Written by Chris Makrozahopoulos <makzax@hotmail.com>

Trivia

At a Q&A session with director Andy Morahan, the director was asked what he thought about the similarities this film has to the original film. He said that he neither considers this a sequel to Highlander or a prequel to Highlander II but an equal to the first film. See more »

Alternate Versions

In the US version of the movie, we see Kane use his sorcerer's powers to transport himself to New York. In the European version, we see Kane walk out of a shipyard, implying that he got to New York by stowing away on a ship. The implication being contradited by a visual distortion in the shipyard background. The 2005 US DVD re-issue uses the European version of the movie despite the claim on the cover of also being the "Director's Cut" and therefore removes much of Kane's supernatural powers seen in the original "Director's Cut" release. Which ofcourse is a mistake. See more »

This is Mario Van Peebles?
13 June 1999 | by JoJo-31See all my reviews

This is Mario Van Peebles? Incredible! I saw him in Killers In the House and he didn't look violent. Now I watch this and like, wow, he's changed. He did a good job of playing Kane. He wasn't as good as Kurgan in the original, but he sure beat Katana in the second one. Christopher Lambert returns as Conner McCleod trying to fight off Kane. It was not as good as the original movie, but it was better than the second one. For those of you who like the Highlander, this is a good movie to watch.
