MPAA Rated PG-13 for off-color humor and some nudity

Sex & Nudity

  • Ace once claims that Einhorn "turns him on".
  • A woman wearing a revealing shirt crouches down and (supposedly) performs oral sex on a man. No nudity shown, but he does exclaim, which explains why oral sex would be implied, though Tom Shadyac's commentary states she simply took his pants off, no oral sex, though you can see his pants.
  • A man and woman have sex and it is implied the man has ejaculated 3 times (no nudity). Some moaning is briefly heard and the bed rattles a lot. Hidden under covers.
  • A woman makes aggressive sexual overtures to a man in her office and she ends up lying on top of him on her desk. The couple are fully clothed. Another man enters the room while they are kissing on the desk.
  • The only actual nudity in the film is a brief shot of Jim Carrey's buttocks as he gets into a shower. (Brief nudity)
  • There are also several cleavage shots.

Violence & Gore

  • A man threatens another man with a club.
  • A man falls off a moving car and another man falls off the roof of a high-rise.
  • A man almost becomes fish food when he falls into a shark tank; shots of large shark teeth may be scary for young children.
  • A man jumps off his penthouse balcony, and is killed.
  • Several gun shots are fired at Ace, who catches a bullet in his teeth.
  • A car flips and crashes.
  • There is also a fist fight between a man and a woman: he slams her head against a pole, and there is some blood.
  • A man rips the clothes off a woman exposing her underwear.

  • 3 uses of "shit", 4 uses of "bitch", 8 uses of "ass" (2 used with hole), 4 uses of "dick", 1 use of "piss", 9 uses of "damn" (3 are "goddamn"), 17 uses of "hell", 1 use of "bastard", 1 use of "sucks", 1 use of "testicles", and a few religious exclamations. No F-bombs were used in the movie, but in one scene, the middle finger gesture is used.
  • 1 obscene hand gesture, 3 scatological terms, 12 anatomical terms, 15 mild obscenities, 3 religious profanities, 6 religious exclamations.
  • Name-calling (bitch, Dr. Dolittle, fattie, Saddlebags, etc.)

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • A few instances of cigarette smoking
  • Ace acts drunk
  • Near the beginning, a man is seen on the steps of a building, he is drinking beer from a bottle. (Very brief)

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • (Deleted. Personal opinions about suitable viewing ages are not appropriate for the Parents Guide.)
  • The last 30 minutes could be very disturbing.
  • An animal is in peril throughout the film
  • A lot of the scenes mentioned in the violence and gore section could be frightening and/or intense.

The Parents Guide items below may give away important plot points.

Sex & Nudity

  • a rambuctish offscreen sex scene
  • A woman's clothes are ripped off her and she stands exposed in her underwear for several minutes. A close up of her bottom half (covered by underwear) is shown with lump with an outline of a penis and testicles, revealing that she is a transgender woman who was assigned male at birth. Not sexual, but used for shock value.

Violence & Gore

  • Multiple bullets get shot at Ace Ventura's car, they miss. One bullet is shot at Ace, but he stops it in his mouth.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • A female character is revealed to have been assigned male at birth by being forcibly undressed and mocked by a group of people. This may be disturbing or distressing to some viewers.
