Trivia

In one of the original scripts, Daniel finds a new love interest after he and Miranda got divorced. However, this would be in the way of Daniel going undercover as Mrs Doubtfire in order to be able to spend time with his children. The script is rewritten as Miranda finding a new lover after the divorce. See more »

Goofs

Stu mentioned that he was allergic to pepper, but his reaction was that of choking and not an allergic reaction to the pepper that Mrs. Doubtfire had put on. If Stu was really allergic to pepper the small amount he did ingest would have had him on the floor and he would be in great pain. See more »

Alternate Versions

The film was originally released to UK cinemas uncut with a 12 certificate. Since the 12 certificate prohibited entry to anyone under that age, regardless of the presence of a guardian, many cinema owners felt that they were missing out on a large potential audience, and a version was eventually passed PG, after the removal of 13 seconds of dialogue referring to "cunning linguistics", "horizontal mambo" and other crude mentions of sexual foreplay during the restaurant scene. All video, laserdisc and DVD versions released in the UK were similarly edited to secure the less restrictive rating. The uncut version was submitted to the BBFC in 2003, but they felt that having both cut- and uncut versions on the market together would confuse consumers, and so cuts were repeated. It was not until November 2012 when all cuts were fully waived by the BBFC, and a 12 certificate was given to the film. Their website outlines the history of the film in detail. See more »

Funny And Heartfelt
19 January 2000 | by claudonioSee all my reviews

"Mrs. Doubtfire" is an extremely funny and heartfelt film. It has tons of laughs as well as tears, this is definitly Robin Williams' best film. Watching williams do voices as well as play Mrs. Doubtfire is a real treat. Also the supporting cast of actors do an excellent job, I highly reccomend it.
