Huge advancements in scientific technology have enabled a mogul to create an island full of living dinosaurs. John Hammond has invited four individuals, along with his two grandchildren, to join him at Jurassic Park. But will everything go according to plan? A park employee attempts to steal dinosaur embryos, critical security systems are shut down and it now becomes a race for survival with dinosaurs roaming freely over the island.Written by
This movie has an almost similar plot with that of the H.G. Wells novel "The Island of Dr. Moreau". In the novel, the scientist Dr. Moreau has conducted genetic experiments on his island which mutant hybrids of man and animals were created and inhabit the island. In both the movie and novel, John Hammond has set up a theme park on an island where genetic scientists have cloned dinosaurs. See more »

The mainland Chinese release of the 3D version (the original version was not released there) deletes the following:
The goat chunk splattering against the tour jeep and Lex's subsequent reaction.
This was obviously the most sophisticated portrayal of dinosaurs at the time, and it doesn't age a bit. Sam Neill plays Dr Alan Grant, a paleontologist who is persuaded to check out Richard Attenborough's new theme park, only to find that he has managed to clone dinosaurs. There is plenty of action, and the dinos look so real as to be positively scary! Sam Neill puts in his usual incredibly brilliant performance, and you can really believe he is acting with the creatures! Jeff Goldblum as usual seems to play himself, as Professor Ian Malcolm, an expert in chaos theory who is convinced the park is a bad idea. The cast are amazing, the effects are amazing, this whole movie is amazing. It doesn't get any better than this!
