The Winners and Losers of Comic-Con 2018, From ‘Aquaman’ to ‘Titans’ to Donald Trump

  • The Wrap
We were a bit concerned that San Diego Comic-Con might be a little boring with Marvel and HBO skipping the festivities this year, but it turned out that 2018’s edition of the most prominent gathering of nerds in the world was just as wild as always. So without further ado, here are our winners and losers from this year’s Comic-Con.

Winner: Warner Bros. Pictures — With Marvel Studios absent this year, Warner Bros really stepped up with its Hall H presentation this year. They delivered excellent trailers for “The Lego Movie 2,” Godzilla: King of the Monsters” and the new “Fantastic Beasts,” and treated fans to the DC Comics version of the normal Marvel presentation with awesome footage from “Wonder Woman 1984” and “Aquaman” that was exclusive to Hall H and had everyone buzzing all day Saturday.

Loser: Johnny Depp — Depp shocked everyone in Hall H when he appeared on stage in character as Grindlewald,

Be Well and Taco Bell: ‘Demolition Man’ Inspires a Fine Dining Experience from the Future [Comic-Con 2018]

San Diego Comic-Con is full of special experiences and installations, trying to convince fans to check out the latest movies and TV shows that Hollywood has to offer. However, this year’s convention had a surprising installation that came out of left field but was welcomed with open arms just the same. Inspired by the 1993 […]

Taco Bell Gives Demolition Man the Prequel It Deserves

Taco Bell is bringing back Nacho Fries for a limited time. That, in itself, is good news. The better, and far crazier news for fans of 90s action movies, is that the fast food chain has decided to promote the return of their Nacho Fries with a fake prequel to Demolition Man. Yes, Taco Bell has given us a glimpse of what happened prior to the events of Sylvester Stallone's 1993 action flick that led to a world in which only one fast food restaurant remains.

The trailer for the unfortunately fake movie is titled Web of Fries II: Franchise Wars and once again brings back Josh Duhamel to star. He was featured in the previous Web of Fries promotion, which played out like a hard-nosed dramatic thriller. This time around, it's his daughter at the center of the action, who is all grown up since we last saw her

Taco Bell’s Cinematic New Nacho Fries Commercial is… a Prequel to ‘Demolition Man’?!
As you may recall, Sandra Bullock explains to Sylvester Stallone in 1993’s sci-fi/action film Demolition Man, set in the year 2032, that Taco Bell was the only restaurant to survive the “franchise wars,” meaning that literally every restaurant in the film’s future world is, well, Taco Bell. At this year’s San Diego Comic Con, specifically from Thursday, July 19 […]

Taco Bell's Demolition Man-Themed Commercial is a Dramatic and Intense Ad For Nacho Fries

Taco Bell has released a new commercial/trailer for the return of their nacho fries and it's the most dramatic and intense commercial I recall seeing for a fast food chain! The ad stars Josh Duhamel and it ties into the 25th anniversary of Demolition Man. This is the description that was offered by AdWeek:

In the riveting advert for Web of Fries II: Franchise Wars, we see the return of hero Josh Duhamel in a future dystopia where the downtrodden common people have launched a rebellion against Big Fry, which is attempting to hide the truth from the public about nacho fries.

Marisa Thalberg, chief brand officer of Taco Bell, talked about the commercial/trailer, saying:

"When you create a fake trailer for a fake movie for a real product that surpasses all expectations of products (and movie trailers), it seems inevitable that you have to create a sequel.

‘Demolition Man’ 25th Anniversary Pop-Up Comes To Sdcc 2018

Warner Bros. and Taco Bell are partnering to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the cult-classic ‘Demolition Man‘. Released in 1993, ‘Demolition Man‘ starred Sylvester Stallone as a modern-day cop who decides to be cryogenically frozen after his ultimate nemesis does the same. Stallone is eventually thawed out in the year 2032, when Wesley Snipes’ Simon Phoenix miraculously breaks out of cryogenic sleep himself, terrorizing the utopian city of San Angeles.

It’s a concept that’s absolutely bonkers, but that’s also part of the charm of the film. Indeed, ‘Demolition Man‘is absolutely crazy in the best way possible, but it’s the film’s depiction of fast food in the future that has gone down in filmic history as one of the craziest. In the film, a scene centers around the main characters eating at a futuristic Taco Bell. Here’s the scene for those who haven’t seen the

Stars: Olivia Grant, Chiké Okonkwo, John Hannah, Warren Brown, Ed Stoppard, Ben Shafik, Rick Warden, William Snape, Wendy Glenn, Stefano Braschi, Amrita Acharia, Paul Nicholls | Written and Directed by Freddie Hutton-Mills, Bart Ruspoli

While attending McM London Comic Con back in May we went to as many panels as possible. We got to check out the creators of a Scottish based web series called Cops and Monsters, who were kicking off there crowdfund that weekend. Monkey Tennis Podcast were recording a live show. We checked out Dark Rising, a new upcoming superhero show with a real difference. There was also the panel for Night Shooters, which looked like a great martial arts/comedy flick. And then there was this, Genesis. We were immediately intrigued because, well lets not mess about, John Hannah is in the movie and that for me warranted checking out the panel. John Hannah is fantastic British actor that you always know,

Futuristic Demolition Man Taco Bell Restaurant Is Coming to Comic-Con

Futuristic Demolition Man Taco Bell Restaurant Is Coming to Comic-Con
Demolition Man is currently celebrating its 25th anniversary and Taco Bell is bringing the celebration to San Diego Comic-Con this year. The 1993 sci-fi movie starred Sylvester Stallone as John Spartan, a policeman that is reanimated in the year 2032 to take down Wesley Snipes' villainous Simon Phoenix character. One particular scene that stood out from the violent sci-fi film was a vision of the future in which Taco Bell (or Pizza Hut in foreign territories) is considered fine dining.

Demolition Man's thoughts on fine dining in the future were and are still very questionable, but Taco Bell is throwing caution into the wind and recreating the restaurant for San Diego Comic-Con. The convention takes place July 18th through the 22nd this year, and the futuristic Taco Bell pop-up event will be open from 6:00 Pm to midnight, throughout the 4 days, at 658 Fifth Ave. in San Diego. As an extra bonus,

The Futuristic Taco Bell From Demolition Man is Coming To San Diego Comic-Con

Remember how in Sylvester Stallone and Sandra Bullock's Demolition Man, Taco Bell was the only restaurant in the future because it was the only one to survive the franchise wars? Well, there's going to be a Demolition Man Taco Bell pop up restaurant in San Diego during Comic-Con for the film's 25th anniversary and it will come complete with Nacho Fries! If you're going to Comic-Con this should be a fun little experience, but if there's a long ass line to get Taco Bell food, you can forget it!

Heres the full press release that was sent out with all of the information:

After making the biggest debut in Taco Bell history in January, the hugely popular Nacho Fries are back for a summer sequel, returning to menus July 12. To celebrate their return, Taco Bell will honor the 25th Anniversary of Warner Bros. Pictures’ action sci-fi film Demolition Man,

‘Demolition Man’ 25th Anniversary Pop-Up Coming to Comic-Con 2018

In 1993, Warner Bros. released Demolition Man, a sci-fi action film that starred Sylvester Stallone as a present day cop who’s cryogenically frozen until being thawed out in the future to apprehend his greatest nemesis. Commando Facts You Never Knew

Commando Facts You Never Knew
It doesn't matter if you're a mercenary, a Green Beret, or a small army: if you mess with Arnold's kid, you're going down. That's right, it's Commando! Let off some steam as we talk about one of the best action movies ever. Here we'll take a look at 10 things you never knew about Commando.

It was written for Gene Simmons.

Commando was originally conceived as a vehicle for none other than Gene Simmons. Despite the critical beating taken by Kiss Meets the Phantom of the Park, the Demon still had the acting bug going into the '80s. He played the villain in Tom Selleck's Runaway, turned up in an episode of Miami Vice, and played a radio DJ in one of MovieWeb's favorite cult films, Trick Or Treat. Simmons actually turned down Commando, which was co-written by his friends Matthew Weisman and Jeph Loeb, who is now the head of Marvel Television.

When Dinosaurs Ruled The Earth: The Summer of Cinema 1993 – 25 Years Later

The summer of 1993 felt like a high stakes cinematic card trick. A full deck of superstars was roughly shuffled so that by summer’s end, some kings ended up as jokers and many a knave turned over a sweet ace. Bluffs were called, some royal flushes turned up out of nowhere, and in the end the whole table was kicked over by a T-Rex, sending all the chips flying.

This week we will once again see a merry band of naive, edible human beings sharing the screen with monstrous dinosaurs as Jurassic World returns with Fallen Kingdom. Perhaps we’re used to it by now, but back in 1993, the last time man and dinosaur had teamed up to any noticeable effect was probably The Valley of the Gwangi. The seismic leap forward in special effects since then meant that the release of Jurassic Park was a genuine movie event, much

That Was Y&R Alum John Enos Playing Roger on Days Of Our Lives

Soap fans might have thought Roger Taylor looked familiar in recent episodes of Days Of Our Lives, and that’s because he was played by John Enos! The actor, best known to daytime viewers as Bobby Marsino on The Young & The Restless was orignally tapped for the role of the Elvis impersonator as part of the mystery surrounding the return of Will Horton to the soap. “So much fun with Alison Sweeney (Sami) and Deidre Hall (Marlena),” the actor tweeted. Enos might also be familiar from his primetime roles. In the mid-‘90s, he played Bobby Parezi on Melrose Place, and could be seen in guest appearances on series like Sex And The City, NYPD Blue, CSI: NY and Gotham. The actor has also appeared on the silver screen in films like Death Becomes Her, Demolition Man, The Rock, and Blade. But soap fans remember him as strip club owner Bobby Marsino on Y&R,

Sylvester Stallone Goes Through His Old Movie Costumes and Props

Watching Sylvester Stallone go through his old movie costumes and props you can imagine the memories that are going through his head. The number of props and costumes he must have gone through is just insane to think about since the man has been in so many different movies, good and bad. Calling the Demolition Man a movie ahead of its time might be accurate but in terms of action and acting it wasn’t really that great when you go back and look at it. But it was one of the more action-packed movies that he was a part of

The Black Panther movie that never was

Rob Leane Feb 26, 2018

Before he was Blade, Wesley Snipes pushed hard to get a Black Panther movie made in the 1990s...

Black Panther, the first Marvel Cinematic Universe movie with a black title character, has launched – at long last - in spectacular style. The film earned rave reviews, before doing gangbusters at the global box office. Sequel talk has already begun, and Chadwick Boseman’s T’Challa has cemented his place in the McU, just in time for Wakanda to become a battleground in this summer’s humungous crossover event, Avengers: Infinity War.

However, this article isn’t about the Black Panther movie that you’ve recently seen and probably loved. Rather, this article is about the Black Panther movie you never got to see: the one that Wesley Snipes was trying to make back in the 1990s. To find out everything there is to know about this doomed project
