Jacob's Ladder Remake Comes Back to Life with a New Writer

Jacob's Ladder Remake Comes Back to Life with a New Writer
The 1990 horror-thriller Jacob's Ladder is getting the remake treatment, according to a new report. A remake was first talked about around 5 years ago and seemed to be gathering momentum in 2016, but nothing else has been heard about the project until now. The original Jacob's Ladder starred Tim Robbins and has become a cult classic over the nearly 30 years that it has been out. Robbins portrayed Jacob Singer, a Vietnam veteran who was dealing with the loss of his young son, and begins to have flashbacks as well as seeing terrifying demons.

Jeff Buhler, who wrote the Clive Barker adaptation The Midnight Meat Train, is currently writing the script for the Jacob's Ladder remake. Buhler is working off of a script that Jake Wade Wall started a few years ago. A director has not yet been chosen, but the studio is not looking to make a direct remake of the original 1990 movie.

But there's another very familiar face among the group that's a bit harder to place: Frank Curry, Camille's editor in St. Louis, Mo. If you were scratching your head trying to place where you've seen him, we're here to help.

Frank is played by Miguel Sandoval, a 66-year-old actor who hails from Washington DC. The most obvious place you may have seen him is on ABC's new Grey's Anatomy spinoff, Station 19.

1. “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” — We can tell you right now Joss Whedon’s name will show up on this list more than any other showrunner’s, as the guy loves to keep canon going for all of his series in comic book form with Dark Horse Comics. And of course that includes his pride and joy, “Buffy.”

2. “The X-Files” — Yes, we know that “The X-Files” actually did get revived recently (and then died again), however,

No Emmys for young men? Freddie Highmore, Kit Harington and Jonathan Groff fight bias against whippersnappers

No Emmys for young men? Freddie Highmore, Kit Harington and Jonathan Groff fight bias against whippersnappers
What do Freddie Highmore, Kit Harington and Jonathan Groff have in common? They’re all on the Emmy ballot for Best Drama Actor, and they’re all among the top 10 contenders for nominations according to our racetrack odds. One more thing: they’re all under the age of 35, which might be a disadvantage. No man in his 20s and hardly anyone in their early 30s have been nominated for Best Drama Actor in the 21st century. The youngest man nominated since 2000 was Michael C. Hall for “Six Feet Under” in 2002. He was 31.

As we see at the Oscars, where only one man in his 20s has ever won Best Actor, Emmy voters don’t usually recognize whippersnappers. The youngest winner of the 21st century was Rami Malek, who was 35 when he won for “Mr. Robot” in 2016. Besides him only three other winners this century were under 40: James Gandolfini for

UFO Trailer Brings Gillian Anderson Back to Her X-Files Roots

The trailer for Sony Pictures' UFO has been released online, and it actually looks like it could be an intriguing science fiction thriller. The movie stars Gillian Anderson, best known for playing Dana Scully in The X-Files, in addition to including a number of other talented cast members.

The story of UFO isn't like most alien-themed science fiction movies, which typically send the main character off into space with the aliens, or at least feature a human encountering an alien on Earth like in E.T.. Instead, UFO seems to go the same route as Super 8 by putting the focus almost completely on the human protagonists who believe in aliens, with them most likely not encountering the aliens themselves until the third act of the movie.

The movie's protagonist is played by Alex Sharp, who received a Tony Award for his stage work in The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time.

Gillian Anderson may be done with “The X-Files,” but that doesn’t mean she’s stopped believing. Spider-Man and Seinfeld Actor Stanley Anderson Dies at 78

Spider-Man and Seinfeld Actor Stanley Anderson Dies at 78
Actor Stanley Anderson, best known for his work in the show Seinfeld and in the 2002 Spider-Man, has passed away at age 78, according to a statement from his family. He died peacefully Sunday, six weeks after learning he had brain cancer.

Stanley Anderson gained a reputation as a "President" actor, having played the President in a number of movies. His most notable outing as a President was in the 1998 action flick Armageddon. Even when he wasn't playing Presidents, he regularly seemed to be cast into the role of some other kind of government official, such as judges, senators and generals. In fact, in Spider-Man, he portrayed General Slocum, who was the U.S. general who was interested in buying from Norman Osborn, before Osborn blew Slocum and his men up after becoming the Green Goblin.

Anderson also appeared in the finale episode of Seinfeld, playing a judge. While it was only one episode,
