The REAL Wild West
girvanpaterson19 February 2016
I remember seeing this series on Australian TV many years ago, and thought it was marvelous, right up there with the great Ken Burns version of The West. There have been many far lesser documentaries on the subject come along since, and I can't work out why this one has been so completely neglected as far as a DVD release is concerned? This one contained many authentic photographs that I've never seen in any of the others, and the excellent commentary by the great Jack Lemmon brings it all together in a most satisfying and enjoyable way! I for one, look forward to the day when it becomes available, and I can enjoy it all over again!

Felt closer to the old west than any other film on its history.

This documentary on the wild west seemed to put the time frame of the west and what was going on in the rest of the country all into place for myself. The film explained a lot of reasons to why and where the history happened. Most films twist the stories to fit what they want to happen. It also left it up to the viewer to believe what they wanted to believe about the west. The film is narrated by Jack Lemmon which held this movie lovers attention. I feel this version is the best if you are into fact or fiction of our history.
