The near indecipherable and much-debated lyrics to the theme song are: "Hey smiling strange, you're looking happily deranged (Can you settle to shoot me,) and have you picked your target yet Hey Sandy...ai yai yai yai... Don't you talk back (yai yai yai) , Hey Sandy Four feet Away, end of speech its the end of the day We was only funning, but guiltily I thought... You had it coming, Hey Sandy, Don't Ya Talk Back, Hey Sandy." The line in parenthesis above has never been revealed by the band members, and "Can you settle to shoot me?" is only one of several interpretations.

Little Pete's forearm tattoo, Petunia, is important enough to get her own identification ("and Petunia") in the opening credits for the show. Apparently, Petunia likes to travel. In early episodes, she is on Pete's left arm, in later episodes on his right arm. In the opening credit sequence, during her main appearance she's on his left arm, and in the very next shot, when Pete and Pete are walking toward the camera with a sunset in the background, she's on his right.

The opening intro only has the characters by their first names.
