Awesome acting, Great story, and more.
TheBlackFedoras30 March 2003
I saw this movie in the rental store, and after watching every movie about animals they had, this was my last one. I picked up the movie, and saw the name, "Fuzz", which is my dog's name, and had to watch it now. I read through the summary, which seemed so great. It's got wonderful acting, and a great story. It made me cry at the end, but that just makes the movie even more beautiful. I ended up renting this movie nine more times until the video was no longer there, which didn't stop me, because I ended up ordering it. I would completely recommend to anyone who loves a good sad and happy story line. Will also make you appreciate life much more. And look up the actors, they were the best part! Especially Raeanin Simpson. =)

A darling girl and her adorable dog make up, somewhat, for a flat movie
inkblot1111 January 2016
Warning: Spoilers
Little Charlie and her dog Fuzzie have an unhappy childhood, at times. Her parents, though loving, argue about money constantly, as their farm in Utah? is not very profitable. As a result, Charlie doesn't have spiffy clothes or shoes. At school, the other girls shun her but her faithful dog waits on the playground till recess for his bestie. Charlie herself tries to earn money helping out a boy with his paper route. Nearby, an older neighbor, Alonzo, also welcomes the girl when she visits. After a girl's invitation to her birthday party is cancelled, Charlie is more upset than ever. Then, Alonzo needs their help badly and the lassie and her dog work miracles. Will the town's children ever accept Charlie as a friend? There are a few more twists and turns to the plot here but its basically a flat, far-from-vibrant tale. Also strange are the 50's era costumes and hairstyles, making it difficult to know what era the movie takes place. Yet, it is still a mildly enjoyable flick thanks to the darling child star and her adorable, very talented canine. Be aware that Fuzzlie passes away in the course of the film. Its values are also above reproach so if you are searching for an acceptable movie for all ages, this is an okay choice for an evening's watch.

One Of My Childhood Favourites
horsecrazy67917 November 2005
Warning: Spoilers
When I was about four, my family was going through the McDonald's drive-through and the received the movie "Little Heroes." At the time I had absolutely no idea what it was going to be about, but being the movie lover that I still am today, I popped it in the VCR as soon as we got home...and as soon as it ended I announced that it was my "new favourite movie!"

Ten years later, I still own the movie, only on DVD instead of VHS, just for memories. I still cry when I watch it just like I did when I was four. In the movie, Charlie's dog, and also her best friend, Fuzz, gets poisoned and dies. Little did I know at that time that the exact same thing would happen to me two years later. When I turned six, my beloved German Shephard dog, Tyson, was poisoned while we were away. Someone had fed him poisoned meat while he was in his outdoor kennel. I was devastated, and watching the movie only made me more sad, because I felt Charlie's pain completely.

So yeah, this movie is just so good. Most people might not think so, but I do, even today. I will always remember "Little Heroes" as one of my favourite childhood movies. Definitely a 10/10.

quality people in a low-budget kids' movie
Sleepy-1711 December 2000
Like many inexpensive family films, this had that particular aspect of sincerity and lack of sophistication, that causes you to feel empathy for the actors even though their dialogue is somewhat stilted. Essentially an "Old Yeller" for girls, and quite likeable.

Hard Life Lessons For a Little Girl.
danrs00000810 May 2022
Warning: Spoilers
As soon as I finished watching Little Heroes I was tempted to write a scathing review, ripping the story to shreds. I thought that the story was rather weak, and I was very upset about the death of Fuzz (as I am a dog lover). After giving it some thought I decided that the movie accomplishes its purpose, that is to show the hard experiences of a young girl and how they affected her life. I very much enjoyed Raeanin Simpson who played Charlie, and I enjoyed Charlie's relationship with her dog Fuzz. Raeanin Simpson was about twelve years old when this movie came out, and almost half of her life was already over. I was sad to read that she passed away in 2004 at the age of 25.

This is a kids' movie?!
elec26847 October 2005
Warning: Spoilers
First of all, I will compare it to Old Yeller which some people seem to think it is similar to. Yeah, it's similar in that the main character and the dog are best friends and do stuff together and that the ending is not a happy one. Yeah, yeah, big deal.

Old Yeller was set in the pioneer days. The dog ended up having to be shot after contracting rabies because. Even when I was a kid, I had no problem with that because I knew that rabies just wasn't treatable in those days. In Little Heroes, the dog dies from eating poison bait. Was that really necessary? Why didn't they keep the dog inside when they couldn't keep an eye on him? (Did the family not know about the bait, or were the filmmakers just too dang lazy?) Talk about preying on anyone's worst fears! And it's in relatively modern times. Old Yeller died after protecting his family. Old Dan in "Where the Red Fern Grows" died in a hunting accident. Furthermore, those movies were based on BOOKS that weren't aimed directly at kids. There was absolutely no reason why this movie had to end this way. If you want to show your kids a movie concerning animal-friend and moving on, try Old Yeller or Red Fern Grows which both at least have a setting in which the tragic end was contextually inevitable and not totally pointless.

Score: 1 because it's the lowest score I can give.
