‘Streets of Red: Devil’s Dare Deluxe’ Review (Nintendo Switch)

There’s something oh-so appealing about the simplicity of the side-scrolling brawler. From the golden days of Renegade, Double Dragon, Final Fight and Streets of Rage, the genre has a pick-up-and-play appeal that suits a quick blast of local co-op gaming (which I am a huge fan of) and, if done correctly, can be pretty much timeless.

In recent years, apart from remakes and re-releases the genre has been relatively quiet, especially from larger studios. It has fallen to independent developers to move the genre forward, refining the formula whilst subtly adding extra elements to give depth. The last game I played in the genre was Wulverblade (also on Switch) which was an excellent and extremely tough title that was steeped in British history. Streets of Red takes a different approach which makes the game just as much of a must-have title for fans of Beat ‘em Ups whilst also carving out its own niche.

Red Dwarf Xii episode 4 review: Mechocracy

Mark Harrison Nov 2, 2017

With Mechocracy, Red Dwarf Xii delivers a contender for the first bonafide classic episode of the Dave era. Spoilers ahead in our review...

This review contains spoilers.

12.4 Mechocracy

“I'm Kryten 2X4B and I approve this message.”

Now, this is more like it. Whatever you thought of the first three episodes of Red Dwarf Xii, you're in for a real treat with the back half of the run. And what better way to start than with Mechocracy, a ship-bound character-driven satire which I think has a strong claim to being the first bonafide classic episode of the Dave era.

We've seen sentient dispensing machines in Series X's Dear Dave, but this makes better use of the automatic population of Red Dwarf, who are mostly voiced by Daniel Barker once again. When Lister accidentally downloads an Sos virus into Red Dwarf's Cpu,

‘Boone: The Bounty Hunter’ Review

Stars: John Hennigan, Osric Chau, Kevin Sorbo, Spencer Grammar, Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson, Jonathan Lipnicki, Dominque Swain, Lorenzo Lamas, Richard Tyson, Jane Park Smith | Written by John Hennigan, Josh Burnell, Franco Movsesian, Jonathan Perkins | Directed by Robert Kirbyson

Boone, a fame-seeking reality show Bounty Hunter (think a douchier version of TV’s Dog the Bounty Hunter) gets carried away in his role and tries to bring down a drug lord and his empire. But when his quest for accolades ends with a bounty on his own head, Boone learns that serving justice is a heck of a lot more dangerous than just ratings.

Apparently conceived by star John Hennigan some five years ago, Boone: The Bounty Hunter has been a labour of love for the wrestler and actor ever since, with Hennigan eventually funding the film himself – no doubt through the money he earned wresting for the likes of Lucha Underground

Here’s the trailer for Adam Sandler’s new Netflix movie

Simon Brew Jan 20, 2017

Sandy Wexler is the latest Netflix project from Adam Sandler. Here's the trailer...

By our maths, Adam Sandler now has one more film to go until he’s completed his deal with Netflix for four feature films. So far, we’ve had The Ridiculous Six (not very good) and The Do-Over (not very good). And for his third movie, Sandler has put together Sandy Wexler.

See related Games nobody talks about anymore: Renegade

He’s not made this one alone. He’s reunited with The Do-Over director Steven Brill for a start, and he’s co-written the screenplay with Paul Sado and Dan Bulla. In terms of casting,, you’ll find Jennifer Hudson, Rob Schneider, Kevin James, Arsenio Hall Terry Crews and Lamorne Morris picking up paycheques on this one.

The film will land on Netflix in April, and we’ve got a trailer and a synopsis.

Logan: breaking down the new trailer

James Hunt Jan 20, 2017

We take an in-depth look at the new trailer for Logan, starring Hugh Jackman...

Ahead of Logan’s March release we’re being given another trailer to enjoy - one with a lot less Johnny Cash and a lot more indication of what’s actually happening in the film. After training our mutant-enhanced senses onto every frame, here’s what we think is going on…

See related Games nobody talks about anymore: Renegade

The trailer opens in some kind of gas station/convenience store. This sort of puts to rest speculation that the film was going to be set in some kind of post-apocalyptic future akin to the Old Man Logan storyline that allegedly inspired the film. Instead, this looks like a kind of grim-but-passable near-future rather than the burnt-out dystopia favoured by most X-Men incarnations.

On the plus side, that does mean the events of X-Men: Days Of Future Past

Louisa Mellor Jul 29, 2016

Bablyon 5's Jerry Doyle, who played Michael Garibaldi on the show, has sadly passed away at the age of 60

Sad, sad news today. Actor and radio host Jerry Doyle, fondly remembered in these parts for playing chief of security Michael Garibaldi in Babylon 5, has passed away.

Doyle played Chief Warrant Officer Garibaldi on the sci-fi show throughout its run, first appearing in 1993 TV movie Bablylon 5: The Gathering. His other small-screen appearances included guest spots in HomefrontRenegadeSliders and NYPD Blue. It was as the host of a nationally syndicated radio show that he found an enthusiastic audience in recent years.

His family made the announcement via his Facebook page, informing followers that the cause of his death was as yet unknown. A flood of tributes is steadily arriving there, many of them from fans praising his wit, thoughtfulness and kindness.

"...in small town Raymond, California, the local church is in foreclosure.

"Then the town is visited by a stranger who introduces himself as 'the lamb' to the local pastor, looking for an 'honest man'. Although greeted in a very unfriendly manner, he shakes the town, and causes people to begin living their lives with a what-would-Jesus-do attitude..."

It’s Guns & Golden Oldies On The Small Screen As ‘The Expendables’ TV Series Announced

As Expendables 3 star Harrison Ford survives an eye-popping plane crash, more surprise news emerges that the Sylvester Stallone-created brand is TV-bound.

It was thought a female-led movie – The Expendabelles – would be the next chapter for the franchise, but now Fox are putting an “event series” on the slate which will do for small screen icons of old what the films did for the likes of Stallone and Dolph Lundgren.

The definitive Hollywood resurrection man is on producing duties, whilst Shane Brennan, Greg Coolidge and Kirk Ward script the concept, which doesn’t sound a million miles away from the tried and tested formula.

Speculation will be rife on who’ll take part, but it’s safe to say Richard Dean Anderson (Macgyver), Mr T (The A-Team) and Lorenzo Lamas (Renegade) might soon be getting a call. I also see Fred Dryer (Hunter) and Dirk “The Face” Benedict being in the mix somewhere.

Bizarre and Badass Short Film - !!Renegade!!

"I'm not dead. I just need to get up."

You are about to watch one hell of an entertaining short film. It's called "!!Renegade!!," and it was directed by Michael Cavanaugh. The story follows a character named Renegade as he battles the evil Dr. Monocle to save his love, Gwenyvier. The short grabbed me from the very beginning, and then shook me around wildlyas I continued to watch. It is an extremely fun ride packed full of action, adventure, romance, comedy, and some great one-liners. It's the best three minutes you will spend today. Here's the synopsis:

Renegade is an homage to the 1940's American pulp magazines, like Thrilling Wonder Stories, Terror Tales and Thrilling Mysterys. These magazines featured cover art by artist like Rudolph Belarski, Tom Blame and Earle Bergey who often drew thinly clothed heroes and heroines fighting off mad scientist, druids, henchmen and goblins. Renegade is Pulp comic fun,

Oprah Winfrey's "Where Are They Now?” takes a sad turn this week as singer/TV star Brandy opens up about her much-publicized 2006 car accident. The exclusive clip (above) from the episode shows Brandy in a one-on-one interview with Oprah, as she talks about the freeway pile-up which left one woman dead. "I don't like to think about it," Brandy says tearfully, "because I don't think that's something I could ever get over or ever truly understand but that was one of the worst times in my life." After taking time off from the spotlight, Brandy released her sixth album "Two Eleven" in 2011, and currently stars on the Bet series "The Game." The upcoming episode of "Where Are They Now?" also includes interviews with former "Renegade" star Lorenzo Lamas and Justin Jedlica, perhaps better known as "The Human Ken Doll."
