10 Actors Who Rejected Marvel Superhero Roles
Marvel movies are big business, from the Avengers franchise and all of the interconnected heroes of the Marvel Cinematic Universe on screens both big and small, to Fox's ever-expanding world of the X-Men and Deadpool, to the Sony steered Spider-man movies, going all the way back to Sam Raimi's original trilogy. But that doesn't mean every big name actor and A list talent in Hollywood wants to be associated with these characters. Some heavyweight actors have straight up said no way when Marvel came knocking. So, who would do such a thing?

Since becoming its own studio, which was later acquired by Disney in one of the biggest studio deals this side of Lucasfilm, Marvel has had no problem attracting top-tier A-list talent to its roster; the talent who commands major ticket grosses and critical acclaim alike. Who doesn't want to suit up as a one of Marvel's Merry Mutants,

Fan Theory Friday: Is ‘John Wick 2’ a Secret Sequel to ‘The Matrix?

One writer thinks so and we really, really want to agree.

Welcome back to Fan Theory Friday, where we explore the most ridiculous and ridiculously-valid fan theories concerning you favorite films and TV shows. This week’s outlandish connection comes from writer Tom Guise, who works over at The Red Bulletin, and it involves the two action franchises held down by the inimitable Keanu Reeves: The Matrix and John Wick. This theory posits that the second chapter of the latter film is a secret sequel of sorts to the former trilogy. Mind blown yet? Just wait.

One of these is Am, one is Pm … choose carefully.

The full argument is Guise’s so you should hit the link above for all the gritty details, but for the sake of economy allow me to sing the high notes for you. Guise has built his theory on basically four pillars:

First and foremost, for

'John Wick' Director Gives the 'Highlander' Remake a New Chance at Immortality

There are a few remakes that just seem flat out cursed to spend eternity in development hell. Perhaps the most notable is The Crow, which not only routinely cycles through stars and directors, but also production companies. At this point if The Crow ever actually happens, it'll be a Hollywood miracle. The Crow isn't the only movie that thrived on VHS that's in development hell. There's also Highlander. Five few years ago it had been reported that Fast & Furious director Justin Lin would be updating the film about immortals living secretly among men. Obviously that never happened. A few more hopped on, most notably including 28 Weeks Later director Juan Carlos Fresnadillo. And back in 2012, while Deadpool was in its own special ring of development hell, Ryan...

Highlander: John Wick Co-Director Chad Stahelski To Helm Reboot

Image via 20th Century Fox

John Wick certainly seems to be one hell of a launchpad for its directorial talent. On the heels of the much-praised action flick, co-directors David Leitch and Chad Stahelski parted ways. Stahelski stayed on board for the second entry in the John Wick saga, John Wick: Chapter 2, and just recently David Leitch was confirmed to be helming the Deadpool 2. However, thanks to a new report from THR, we now know that Stahelski already has his next film lined up.

According to the outlet, Stahelski has signed on to the Highlander reboot, a film that’s been in the works for some time now. Regarding the new gig, Stahelski had the following to say:

"I've been a huge fan of the original property since I saw it in high school. Such great themes of immortality, love, and identity are all wrapped up in such colorful mythology.

david j. moore chats with actor Vladimir Kulich about The 13th Warrior, Ironclad, The Equalizer and his new projects Grave Walkers and Savage Dog

Perhaps best known for playing Buliwyf in The 13th Warrior, the big budget epic sword and sorcery-type film from director John McTiernan and writer Michael Crichton from 1999, actor Vladimir Kulich towers above his co-stars in most of the projects he’s been in. Imbued with a distinct look and voice, Kulich also co-starred in films such as Decoy with Peter Weller, Red Scorpion 2 with Matt McColm, Crackerjack with Thomas Ian Griffith, and Firestorm with Howie Long. Over the years he’s specialized in playing Nordic heroes or stalwart warriors in projects like Ironclad and the TV series Vikings, but he’s also versatile, appearing in key roles in Smokin’ Aces and The Equalizer with Denzel Washington. The Last Witch Hunter review

Vin Diesel gets what could be the start of a new action fantasy franchise with The Last Witch Hunter. Here's our review...

Director Breck Eisner’s 2010 remake of George Romero's The Crazies was far better made and considered than it might otherwise have been, so it makes sense that he’s managed to turn what might have been a pot-boiling action fantasy into a visually-arresting and fun vehicle for growling action man Vin Diesel.

As a contrast, take a look at 2011’s Season Of The Witch as an example of how badly an effects-heavy fantasy movie can go wrong; Nicolas Cage looked glum underneath his lank Cher wig, Ron Perlman was given little to do and the numerous sword fights and the screaming necromancer of a plot failed to add up to a hill of beans.

The Last Witch Hunter largely succeeds because it’s aware

New Look At Michael Fassbender And Marion Cotillard In Macbeth

New Look At Michael Fassbender And Marion Cotillard In Macbeth
Debuting in Empire magazine last year was a first-look at Justin Kurzel’s Macbeth showing its stars Michael Fassbender and Marion Cotillard in a tranquil moment. Three new stills have now landed from the Shakespeare adaptation, offering a fresh entry point into the Scotland of the film and flaunting the rich costumes assembled by Oscar winner Jacqueline Durran. Click on the thumbnails below to enlarge them. These quiet moments before the storm will prove few and far between in a story that sees Scottish tribal politics spill over into the kind of bloodletting that would make even Highlander recoil. According to the film's official synopsis folio, this Macbeth is "a reimagining of what wartime must have been like for one of Shakespeare’s most famous and compelling characters, a story of all-consuming passion and ambition set in war-torn medieval Scotland”.Expect elements of war film, then, as Fassbender’s Macbeth,

‘Mankind’s Last Stand’ Review

Jabbar Raisani, a former visual effects maestro, who here turns director – makes his feature debut with a film that mixes a myriad of stereotypes and cliches of the alien invasion genre with the modern war movie (there’s a very good reason the film is described as Independence Day meets Black Hawk Down) in a faux-documentary that sees a camera crew join an elite unit of soldiers at Outpost 37, the most hostile region of what remains of our planet, as they face one of their greatest battles against the “Heavies” alien intruders who, a decade earlier, had invaded Earth with the intention of total annihilation.

Also known as Outpost 37 and Alien Outpost,
