Storyline

Dolly Parton stars in a dramatic role as a Texas Swing band singer caught in a violent, destructive relationship that leads to suspense and murder. Thiola Rayfield (Parton), known to her fans as "T", sings for a hard-working, close-knit band that makes its living on the road playing one bar after another. Then she meets and is swept off her feet by charming club owner Justice (Gary Busey). However, "T" soon discovers that Justice has a dark side. He flies into violent rages, and soon members of the band cannot ignore the obvious signs that Justice has been abusing "T". They try to persuade "T" to leave Justice and go back on the road with the band. Justice won't let her go, setting off a series of plot twists that ultimately lead to murder and a shocking conclusion. Written by Tracey Searcy

Trivia

No soundtrack was issued, but Dolly Parton had previously recorded "Farther Along" with Linda Ronstadt and Emmylou Harris for their 1987 "Trio" album, she later re-recorded "Speakin' of the Devil" for her 1995 album "Something Special," she and Ray Benson performed "Leave That Cowboy Alone" in Stars Over Texas Concert (2003), and they redid it for his 2008 album "Beyond Time." Additionally, her solo demo of "Say It's True" has found its way onto YouTube. See more »

Terrible Yet Still Worth It
22 June 2007 | by acorn_of_doomSee all my reviews

I had wanted to see this movie ever since I found out it existed, being the only person in my age group that's a Dolly Parton fan (woohoo!). When I realized that it was near impossible to find I pretty much gave up hope on it, 'til one day, on a whim I decided to search for "Wild Texas Wind" on Youtube, and sure enough it was there, the whole movie. I then stayed up until 1 in the morning watching it, aren't I the pathetic one. Afterwards I just sat there, staring at the screen, what was this that I just watched? A sheer travesty is what it was, the film obviously had absolutely no budget and a terrible director. I can imagine on paper it looked pretty good, it had all the elements of a good story but all were incredibly poorly executed especially the attempt at putting it in a narrative frame. But there is still one gleaming reason to watch it, Dolly Parton herself. about 40% of the movie is all her performing and these are songs you can't hear anywhere else. Although it was an amazing blunder for the director, if you're a Dolly fan, you're bound to be entertained.

As a film I give it 3/10. For entertainment value, a definite 8/10
