Louise is working in a diner as a waitress and has some problems with her boyfriend Jimmy, who, as a musician, is always on the road. Thelma is married to Darryl who likes his wife to stay quiet in the kitchen so that he can watch football on TV. They decide to go to Mexico, but soon they are hunted by American police. Written by Harald Mayr

Did You Know?

Edit
Trivia The sequence where Darryl slips and falls over on the builder's supplies, as he is leaving for work, was unscripted, as Christopher McDonald genuinely lost his footing. Despite this, he remained in character, yelling at the workmen as he got into the car and drove away. As he states on the DVD commentary, Director Ridley Scott liked the result so much, he kept it in the film. See more »
Goofs While it is a popular movie trope that a caller must stay on the line a minimum amount of time before the call can be traced, by the time of this movie's setting, calls could be traced as soon as the connection was made. This is true even with a landline, a public phone, or a long distance call, as was the case in the film. See more »

Quotes State Trooper: [sobbing] Please! I have a wife and kids. Please!
Thelma: You do? Well, you're lucky. You be sweet to 'em, especially your wife. My husband wasn't sweet to me. Look how I turned out.
