Storyline

Aman (Sanjay Dutt) is a poor, handicapped orphan who is befriended by wealthy Akash Verma (Salman Khan) during his childhood. Akash's parents adopt him and give him their family name, and Akash and Aman grow up as brothers. While Akash is a womanizer, Aman takes to writing poems under the pen name Sagar. The poems get published, and Aman becomes very popular. One of his fans is a young woman by the name of Pooja Saxena (Madhuri Dixit), who corresponds with Sagar. Akash meets Pooja and falls head over heels in love with her. When Aman comes to know this, he asks Akash to pose as Sagar, which he does, and Pooja and Akash fall in love with each other. A heartbroken Aman looks on, as he knows that although women may like his poetry, they will never come out openly and love him when they see his handicap. At the end, Akash discovers that Aman is actually Sagar and loves Pooja, so he decides to sacrifice his love for Aman. Written by gavin@sunny_deol2009@yahoo.com

Goofs

The song 'Mera bil bhi kitna paagal hai' was shot after the whole shooting was over. Throughout the movie Aman Verma's hair is long and straight but in this song his hair is permed with golden tint. The cinematography of this song also looks fresh compared to the rest of the movie. See more »

Triangular fun.
24 November 2004 | by ChiBronSee all my reviews

Saajan today is mostly seen as an inspiration for practically all post-1990 triangular love stories in Bollywood. This is a great masala movie featuring a little bit of everything - comedy, tragedy, love, romance, betrayal, sacrifice and a FINE MUSICAL SCORE.

Salman, Madhuri and Sanjay Dutt(in that order) are the stars here. If u just wanna have fun and see some of Bollywood's biggest stars in one of their finest performances....Saajan is ideal for you. I just loved D'Souza's mature direction and the chemistry shared among the 3 stars. Madhuri looks awesome with either male leads and the awesome songs only get better with the picturization.
