Trivia

For each city the production needed two taxi cabs. One was an ordinary car for exterior shots. The other had a lighting rig on the roof to illuminate the actors inside, and the engine removed to make room for the camera and the cinematographer. This car was then towed behind a van with the director, sound mixer, lighting technician and script supervisor inside. See more »

Goofs

In the Rome segment you can see several times a black car following the cab, probably the production crew. See more »

Quotes

Paris Driver: I work from 8 p.m. to 8 a.m., so don't fuck with me in my own taxi! I don't give a shit about you, Ambassador, OK?
Passenger #1: Can't we have some fun?
Passenger #2: We've had champagne and we're happy...
Paris Driver: No, you don't have fun in my taxi! It's my place of business, not your fucking playground! Okay, get out!

One of My Favorite Films!!
4 January 2003 | by fpappSee all my reviews

Since I have almost seventeen years of experience in the taxi business as a dispatcher and driver, I have to say that "Night on Earth" is one of my favorite movies! This movie gives a very real and comical portrayal of life in this line of work. I've known people who were given great opportunities, and rejected them. I've personally kicked drunk idiots out of my cab. I've had blind people tell me which route to take. I've had people who were so "down and out" tell me their life story. This is a film that portrays what taxi driving is all about, and it is not limited to the USA. People are the same all over the world! This movie is not yet available on DVD in the USA, but I really hope it will be soon!
