Storyline

This movie is supposed to be a sequel to the movie which starred Jean-Claude Van Damme. Only now the movie revolves around the brother of the character that Van Damme played. David Sloan is the brother Van Damme's Kurt Sloan. He runs a Karate gym. Now Mr. Sangha, the Thai government official who handles Tong Po, the brutal kickboxer whom Van Damme in the previous movie, wishes that Tong Po would have another shot at Kurt Sloan, so he could vindicate himself but Tong Po in a fit of rage shot and killed him thus depriving him of an opportunity to face him again. But when they hear of David, they decide that he will be the one whom Tong Po will face to regain his honor. But when David is injured, Xian David's teacher is brought over to help him with his recovery. And when he recovers, they set David up to fight Tong Po; who will survive? Trivia

Neither Sasha Mitchell nor Michel Qissi ever touched real broken glass during the final fight scene: the "glass" worn on their fists is actually silicone ice, and a fake human arm (cast from the fist of props coordinator Tighe Barry)was used in the shot wherein David Sloan rubs his fist into the container of glass shards. Goofs

When David delivers the final kick to Sanga, he raises his left leg to kick but in the next frame it is clearly his right leg which comes out and makes contact to Sanga's face. The right-leg is also a prop made of rubber as you can see the crews hand holding onto the thigh part and the rubber foot flopping/wobbling when contact is made. The following frame shows David bringing back his left leg after the right-legged kick. See more »

Alternate Versions

At the time of its release, there was a longer version which showed Tong Po training and re-fighting Jean-Claude Van Damme's character Kurt Sloane (played by Emmanuel Kervyn this time). By all accounts the fight scenes were better than the actual end-fight, so the scenes containing Kurt, Eric and Xian's niece Mylee were cut down to a few seconds, showing Kurt Sloane with the bullet hole in the head and Tong Po walking away. this movie rocks

this movie is great it holds lots of memories for me it is written by the script writer of BLADE and DARK CITY so you know it has to be good. The cast is full of unknowns which deliver a fine perfomance for the genre. This film also has a great soundtrack which unfortunately was never released, Give it a chance cause this is a feel good martial arts movie along the lines of AMERICAN SHAOLIN. I own both films and I prefer this one to the VAN DAMME prequel. This movie is good so give it a chance. Also if anyone has the song 'BROTHER'S EYES' from the movie please let me know. I am desperate for that song because it gives me chills every time I watch the film
