This movie is supposed to be a sequel to the movie which starred Jean-Claude Van Damme. Only now the movie revolves around the brother of the character that Van Damme played. David Sloan is the brother Van Damme's Kurt Sloan. He runs a Karate gym. Now Mr. Sangha, the Thai government official who handles Tong Po, the brutal kickboxer whom Van Damme in the previous movie, wishes that Tong Po would have another shot at Kurt Sloan, so he could vindicate himself but Tong Po in a fit of rage shot and killed him thus depriving him of an opportunity to face him again. But when they hear of David, they decide that he will be the one whom Tong Po will face to regain his honor. But when David is injured, Xian David's teacher is brought over to help him with his recovery. And when he recovers, they set David up to fight Tong Po; who will survive? Did You Know?

Neither Sasha Mitchell nor Michel Qissi ever touched real broken glass during the final fight scene: the "glass" worn on their fists is actually silicone ice, and a fake human arm (cast from the fist of props coordinator Tighe Barry)was used in the shot wherein David Sloan rubs his fist into the container of glass shards. During the flashback when Sangha tells his goon what happened to Kurt Sloan after Tong Po battled him, a water machine is visible at the top of the screen spraying out a rain-like effect. See more »

Xian Chow: David, I see no fat lady, I hear no singing... Its not over yet... The strongest weapon is the human mind... Now kick his ass, and lets go home!

Alternate Versions

At the time of its release, there was a longer version which showed Tong Po training and re-fighting Jean-Claude Van Damme's character Kurt Sloane (played by Emmanuel Kervyn this time). By all accounts the fight scenes were better than the actual end-fight, so the scenes containing Kurt, Eric and Xian's niece Mylee were cut down to a few seconds, showing Kurt Sloane with the bullet hole in the head and Tong Po walking away. Kickboxer 2 a sensational action movie!
26 October 2005 | by king_blinky2000See all my reviews

Sasha Mithchell makes his best movie for his career, in this sensational peace of material art work, Sasha Mithcell has a great life in America running and living in his gym. Things couldn't get better and also teaching younger kids on how to do kick boxing. This movie is so so thrilling to watch, it keeps you jumping on your seat. The sensational thing about this movie is that he had a very close relationship to his brothers, his brothers got killed in Thiland (Kickboxer 1) by a very vicious jealousy man of Tong-Po, Tongo-Po go beaten by Kirt (Jean-Cluade_Van-Damme) and his jealousy got very high he shot him, as well as his brother. In this great fighting movie, Tong-Po returns and is stronger and more vicious, David Sloan (Sasha Mitchell) had a trainer to help recover his bad injury during the burnt down of a his gym, this trainer was Zian also started in Kickboxer 1 Zian and Tong-Po also didn't have at all! a good friendship, when Tong-Po stars in Kickboxer 2 his first fight was against Davids best friend and he got, I'm not going to tell you! you should rent it first! ☺ This movie will make you believe that you can do anything!
