Coming from a police family, Tom Hardy ends up fighting his uncle after the murder of his father. Tom believes the killer is another cop and goes on the record with his allegations. Demoted then to river duty, the killer taunts Tom.

This was the last movie produced by TriStar Pictures before they merged with Columbia Pictures, which was going through similar financial difficulties. Because the film lost so much money, Sony had to salvage TriStar by purchasing its remaining stock, and by reorganizing said company as part of the recently-formed Sony Pictures Entertainment. One memorable headline summed up the incident: "HAWK cooks Tri-Star's goose". As with United Artists when they were bought out by MGM, Columbia and Tri-Star were allowed to keep their own logos, and to continue making movies under their own names. See more »
After Hawk is confronted by George Kaplan, his notebook is lifted by the henchwoman. She reads the list of items including 100 stamps. The next scene has Hawk riding the mail train to the Vatican. Ignoring the visible stamps on the side of the carton, there are at least 209 stamps on the top of the same carton. See more »

Entire subplot of Eddie's dead pet monkey Little Eddie. Eddie puts a photo of the monkey on Kaplan's head and throws him off the castle; the photo is still visible in the final cut just as he goes over the cliff on the limo. See more »
