The film was launched before "Dil" but delayed for financial reasons. After "Dil" became a Blockbuster, "Beta" was resumed.
The song "Naach Mundeya" (which was edited out of the film), was sampled from UK Bhangra band Alaap's Punjabi song "Nach Mudeya". The band lead singer Channi Singh would go on to compose the music for Feroz Khan's Yalgaar. Naach Mundeya also had a remix version in the album Extra Hot 4 : Bhangra Remixes. Remixed by Pete Ware. This was released in 1991. Indra Kumar was friends with Channi Singh. In 1989 when Indra Kumar and Ashok Thakeria visited England, they met Channi Singh and took his cassette tapes back to India . They then copied Channi Singh's song Chunni Udi Udi Jaye and remade as Mujhe Neend Na Aaye in Dil. This angered Channi as he felt betrayed by his producer friends. They copied the song and did not take his permission. With the song Nach Mundeya, they did the same thing again.
Anupam Kher replaced Kader Khan.
The film was initially titled "Badi Bahu".
The famous heart throbbing song "Dhak Dhak Karne Laga" is sampled from the telugu song "Abbani Teyyani Debba" composed by Illaiyaraaja, from the movie "Jagadeka Veerudu Athiloka Sundari"(1990) featuring Sridevi and Chiranjeevi. It was later dubbed in Hindi as "Aadmi Aur Apsara" and the song was titled "Tumne Is Tarah Mara".
