Gail Berman, Lucy Fisher Elected Presidents of Producers Guild of America
The Producers Guild of America (PGA) announced Saturday that Gail Berman and Lucy Fisher were elected as presidents — marking the first time two women will lead the Hollywood trade association.

Berman and Fisher ran unopposed and were introduced to their constituents during the guild’s annual General Membership Meeting on the Paramount Pictures lot.

“Gail and Lucy have long since established themselves as leaders in our industry, steering their respective networks, studios and companies to great success in an era of unprecedented change,” outgoing PGA presidents Gary Lucchesi and Lori McCreary said in a statement. “They are a pair of brilliant and fearless producers who are devoted to the ideals of the PGA and the professional welfare of its members. We can’t wait to watch the guild thrive under their stewardship.”

The Producers Guild of America has elected industry veterans Gail Berman and Lucy Fisher as presidents for two-year terms.

The duo ran unopposed and were introduced during the PGA’s annual membership meeting on the Paramount Pictures Studios lot in Los Angeles on Saturday evening at the conclusion of the first day of the guild’s two-day Produced By conference.

Berman and Fisher’s election marks the first time two women will serve as PGA presidents.

“Gail and Lucy have long since established themselves as leaders in our industry, steering their respective networks, studios and companies to great success in an era of unprecedented change,” said outgoing PGA presidents Gary Lucchesi and Lori McCreary. “They are a pair of brilliant and fearless producers who are devoted to the ideals of the PGA and the professional welfare of its members. Addams Family Animated Movie Gets Charlize Theron, Bette Midler and More
The Addams Family animated movie has lined up a stellar cast. Charlize Theron (Morticia), Allison Janney (Margaux Needler), Bette Midler (Grandmama), Chloe Grace Moretz (Wednesday), Finn Wolfhard (Pugsley), and Nick Kroll (Uncle Fester) have all joined the previously announced Oscar Isaac, who voices Gomez Addams. MGM is set to release the movie on October 11, 2019.

Conrad Vernon, known best for his work on the R-rated animated comedy Sausage Party is co-directing the movie with Greg Tiernan. In addition to the cast, the studio also revealed the first artwork for the new Addams Family animated movie, which is quite a bit different from what many are accustomed to, but it is a bit closer to the original New Yorker comic strip that the movies and TV shows have been based on. Jonathan Glickman, president of MGM had to say about the movie in a statement.

Since first debuting as a cartoon in The New Yorker all the way back in 1938, The Addams Family have captured the hearts and imaginations of people the world over in the decades to follow. Of course, the live action TV series from the ’60s and, to an extent, the animated followup from Hanna-Barbera in the ’70s can largely be credited for kickstarting their mainstream popularity, but each interpretation has its place in history.

Since then, more recent generations hopped on the bandwagon thanks to two major motion pictures released in the early ’90s, which spawned a damn good video game during the 16-bit era, believe it or not. There was a threequel of sorts a few years later, too, that arrived in the form of the direct-to-video Addams Family Reunion, but it’s almost as if the Powers That Be want people to forget about it because that installment doesn’t get much play.

MGM has unveiled the voice cast for their upcoming animated adaptation of “The Addams Family,” with Oscar Isaac and Charlize Theron as the heads of the titular family, Gomez and Morticia.
