Interesting New Details Revealed For Die Hard: Year One

Thanks to our friends at /Film, we have some new detail on the sixth Die Hard movie, which will be both a prequel and sequel. Producer Len Wisemen (Underworld, Live Free or Die Hard) has been hard at work developing the film.

Up until this point, all we knew about the movie is that it would be set in 1979, when McClane was fighting crime as a New York City cop. It will show how he "became a die hard kind of guy." Bruce Willis is set to reprise his role. It's also explained that the movie will jump back and forth between the past and the present. The movie is aiming for a Die Hard: Year One type of feel, in reference to Frank Miller’s comic book Batman: Year One. The title of the movie will be Die Hard: Year One.

While talking to /Film, Wiseman opened up and

Die Hard Celebrates 30th Anniversary With Outdoor Screening at Nakatomi Tower

Die Hard is easily one of my favorite action movies of all time, so I was thrilled when I was invited to attend an outdoor screening of the film at Nakatomi Tower. I've gotta say, it was pretty awesome watching this movie in the shadow of the building where it was filmed!

Not only that, but I got to watch the movie while enjoying Twinkies! It was a charming little touch that added to the experience. Like Officer Powell says, Twinkies are loaded with, "Sugar-enriched flour, partially hydrogenated vegetable oil, polysorbate 60, and Yellow Dye No. 5. Just everything a growing boy needs."

Bonnie Bedelia and Reginald VelJohnson both showed up for the screening to thank the fans for their love of Die Hard. You can watch them get up and talk about the screening in the video provided below, which contains a few minutes of footage from the event to give

A Nightmare On Elm Street 4: The Dream Master Started Filming Before It Had A Director

A Nightmare on Elm Street may have started off as the vision of renowned filmmaker Wes Craven, but by the time the series had progressed to A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master, New Line Cinema had very much taken the reins, to the point that the studio didn’t even need a director to start production.

When the Midnight’s Edge podcast spoke to Friday the 13th Part VI: Jason Lives helmsman Tom McLoughlin recently, the director recalled how he was in talks to work on the 1988 Freddy Krueger flick, but turned the project down after realizing that he wouldn’t be given the creative control that he wanted.

“When I finished Friday, I was offered Nightmare 4 and went to New Line, met with them, and I said, ‘I love Freddy, I would love to do one of these, but I really want to do what I just did,

10 Facts About Predator You Never Knew
"If it bleeds, we can kill it." It was a rumble in the jungle between a muscle bound paramilitary team and one ugly alien. Cover yourself in mud, cause we're talking about Predator. Here we'll take a look at 10 things you never knew about Predator.

Call me the hunter.

The first Predator was originally called Hunter until after production was completed. In the DVD commentary, director John McTiernan says Predator was originally pitched as Rocky vs. Alien, 'though he personally saw it as more like King Kong. In the 2001 short documentary "If It Bleeds We Can Kill It: The Making of Predator", brothers Jim and John Thomas said they got their script idea from a joke about Rocky IV. The gag was that Rocky had no one left to fight, so he may as well fight an alien.

The original Predator.

The original Predator design was much lankier and insect like.

The Days Of Thunder vs Dick Tracy blockbuster rivalry

Simon Brew Dec 4, 2017

The summer of 1990 was supposed to be a showdown between Dick Tracy and Days Of Thunder. It was a bit of an odd rivalry...

It would be fair to say that the top five movies at the Us box office in 1990 didn’t follow the rule book. In fact, 1990 saw Hollywood’s blockbuster formula falter, to the point that conversations were rife about whether a sea change was coming. Dramtic changes in blockbuster mentality were certainly on the way, as it happened, but not for a decade or so. Yet the seed was planted in 1990 that sure-fire blockbuster hits weren’t always, well, sure-fire blockbuster hits.

22 Movies That Form a Secret Cinematic Universe

22 Movies That Form a Secret Cinematic Universe
Marvel Entertainment brought the idea of a shared cinematic universe to the forefront with the multibillion-dollar McU. In the years since Robert Downey Jr. first suited up as Iron Man, Warner Bros. has worked to catch-up with their Dceu. Universal ventured into shared cinematic universe territory with their cache of classic monsters, sticking Dr. Jekyll squarely into their rebooted Mummy movie. But did you know 20th Century Fox had their own secret shared cinematic universe going back in the '80s, stretching across multiple franchises, with over 20 films and counting?

It all starts with Arnold Schwarzenegger. Communist dictators and related thugs were often the villains in the TV shows and action movies of the '70s and '80s. But given the sensitive nature of international relations, not every movie was willing to go full on Red Dawn and point the cinematic finger at the Soviet Union or Cuba.

Billy Idol Was Almost the T-1000 in Terminator 2

Billy Idol Was Almost the T-1000 in Terminator 2
With the upcoming Terminator 2 3D re-release hitting theaters next weekend, Robert Patrick has been making the press rounds, where he dropped quite the bombshell. The actor, who essentially launched his career by playing the nefarious T-1000 robot in T2, revealed that rock star Billy Idol was cast in the role before him, but was forced to drop out, leading the way for his breakthrough role. Here's what Robert Patrick had to say about Billy Idol's casting.

"Billy Idol was set to do the role of the T-1000, as I understand. I can tell you that I saw Billy's image when I went to Stan Winston after I got the role. Unfortunately, he got into a motorcycle accident and busted up his leg, so he wasn't able to physically do what the role demanded."

Oddly enough, Billy Idol would go on to make his feature film debut in The Doors,

Blu-ray Review – Psycho II (1983)

Psycho II, 1983.

Directed by Richard Franklin.

Starring Anthony Perkins, Vera Miles, Meg Tilly, Robert Loggia, Dennis Franz, Hugh Gillin, and Tom Holland.

Synopsis:

22 years after he was incarcerated for murder Norman Bates is declared sane and released back to his motel but Mother isn’t likely to let him live a peaceful life.

Sequels to acknowledged classic movies often bring about derision and a bit of a sniffy attitude, especially belated ones not made by the original crew or featuring different actors, but every so often a worthy successor appears just to prove there are exceptions. Psycho II appeared in 1983, 23 years after Alfred Hitchcock’s seminal original, and reunites original cast members Anthony Perkins and Vera Miles but with Hitchcock having died in 1980 Universal Pictures turned to Richard Franklin, one of his students, to helm the project, based on a script written by Tom Holland (Fright Night/Child’s Play

Cinematic universes, and the need for jumping on points

Spider-Man: Homecoming and Guardians Of The Galaxy 2 are Marvel's two films of 2017 so far. One is more welcoming to newcomers.

Light spoilers for Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol 2 lie ahead

Two films thus far in 2017 have been released under the banner of Marvel Studios (accepting that one of them is a co-production with Sony), and both in their own way highlight some of the demands that come with a long-running cinematic universe.

First up was Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol 2, the rightly-acclaimed sequel from James Gunn that packed in lots of jokes, characters it was fun to spend time with, and a plot about, well, an evil planet and some other stuff. Secondly, we’ve had Spider-Man: Homecoming, the rightly-acclaimed new Spidey adventure from Jon Watts, that’s packed in lots of jokes, characters it’s fun to spend time with,
