Trivia

According to John Carpenter on the audio commentary for Vampires (1998) that director Frank Darabont (who are very closed friends and Frank had a cameo in that film) asked Carpenter to play as a truck driver. Carpenter turned the offer down because he stated that he would only play a character that is about to or is killing someone or he's in bed with a beautiful woman. See more »

Goofs

At the morgue, when Clint is about to be embalmed, his head moves. Earl, the embalmer, says it is just a reflex and that he has seen it before. As embalmers can attest, dead bodies are known to belch, fart, twitch and, on rare occasions, sit up. This is due not to "reflex" but because of gases moving through the body and muscles contracting as chemical changes begin. See more »

Quotes

[last lines]
Sheriff Sam Eberly: Chilly today. I should have worn my top coat. I came to pay my respects to a friend. He's buried here. Did you know him?
Clint Goodman: No.
Sheriff Sam Eberly: Died last week. Died sudden. I never... never had the chance to tell him how much our friendship really meant to me.
Clint Goodman: Maybe he knows.
Sheriff Sam Eberly: Hey, mister!
[Clint turns around]
Sheriff Sam Eberly: I don't know who you are, but don't come back here... ever.

Great and timeless movie!!!
21 April 2006 | by See all my reviews

This really is one of my favourite films and is definitely the best Tim Matheson film I have seen so far. If you haven't seen it then I can't recommend it enough! The sequel to this film isn't as good but worth watching if you enjoyed the first. Scenes where Tim Matheson's character is seen to move when inside a zipped up body bag in the morgue, and when he is on the undertaker's embalming table are chilling, and when he eventually wakes up after he's been buried and subsequently digs his way out, the film totally delivers on its promise to thrill. The music when he's stumbling through the cemetery is just perfect and will have you rooting for him as he plots his revenge on his uncaring wife. MUST SEE! :-)
