The pilot caused a minor controversy in 1990, because of a scene where Maizy tells Uncle Buck: "You suck", the first time this had happened in an American network television series.
Dennis Cockrum is the only person from the film to play a role in the show. In the film, he played "Pal". In the show, he played a character named "Skank".
