    Edit
    • Trivia
During Miles' interrogation of Uncle Buck (22:36 to 23:01), John Candy wrote out the script's dialogue, and wore it atop his head so Macaulay Culkin could read the lines more quickly, and keep the pace of the scene very fast. (Note that this would be the take of the scene when the camera was set for close-ups of Miles.)
    • Goofs
When Buck gets his hat back at the party he puts it on his head and the top of it is partially smashed in (at around 1h 19 mins). When we see the hat again only seconds later it is not (01:19:55).
    • Quotes

Buck Russell: I don't think I want to know a six-year-old who isn't a dreamer, or a sillyheart. And I sure don't want to know one who takes their student career seriously. I don't have a college degree. I don't even have a job. But I know a good kid when I see one. Because they're ALL good kids, until dried-out, brain-dead skags like you drag them down and convince them they're no good. You so much as scowl at my niece, or any other kid in this school, and I hear about it, and I'm coming looking for you!

      [of Anita's mole]

Buck Russell: Take this quarter, go downtown, and have a rat gnaw that thing off your face! Good day to you, madam.

    • Crazy credits
When the movie finishes, John Candy's voice yells "Wake up!", followed by the sound of an air horn and John laughing.
    • Alternate versions
In January 2021, Hats Off Entertainment presented a previously unseen deleted scene on its Youtube channel. The ten-minute scene shows Buck playing various games in the Russell household with his gambling buddies and a pizza delivery man. After playing charades, they play a game of musical chairs for money. Buck loses the game, but refuses to pay out to the other players and is chased.

A Beautiful Film About Family and Teen Choices
I love this movie. John Hughes is brilliant. John Candy shines. The plot

was perfect and the movie turned out great. Jean Louisa Kelly is perfect

for the girl going through decisions on teen sex. And seeing little

Macaulay Culkin before Home Alone and his fame made him a good start.

And before Now and Then and 200 Cigerettes, little Gaby Hoffmann is so

adorable. The little ones were my favorite characters. And the scene

where Miles (Culkin) was asking Buck (Candy) all of the personal

questions was one touching and entertaining scene. This movie was more

of a drama than a comedy once you get the feeling. Everyone should love
